THE CITY

The City of Rio Vista was incorporated in 1893. With a current population of approximately 8,200 in a 7.5 square mile area, Rio Vista is approximately 25% developed and is poised to grow to full potential as the national economy improves.

Rio Vista is located in the eastern end of Solano County. It is a special place with an inviting mix of rural and suburban lifestyles. The City lies on the banks of the Sacramento River and is within easy access of the urban amenities associated with two of the nation’s most dynamic metropolitan regions, San Francisco and Sacramento. It is a unique community enjoying the benefits of rural surroundings while being centrally located between the major population centers of Fairfield, Lodi and Brentwood. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Rio Vista Police Department is a dynamic and proactive municipal policing agency responsible for the professional and effective delivery of service to the City's residents and thousands of annual visitors. The Rio Vista Police Department is recognized by the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST).

The Police Department, comprised of the Chief, three sergeants and eight officers, enjoys tremendous support from the community. It provides residents and visitors with professional and thorough patrol and investigative services. The Police Department participates in numerous community outreach programs and events that foster a sense of security, safety and solidarity to those living and visiting here.
