City of Antioch

The City of Antioch, known as the “Gateway to the Delta” was the first city to incorporate in Contra Costa County in 1872 and is approximately 36 square miles. Antioch is located on the banks of the San Joaquin River with 1,000 miles of inland waterways near the entrance to the San Joaquin Delta, and is 42 miles east of San Francisco. The City features access to the Delta through its Marina and boat ramp. Numerous cultural and recreational choices are available as well. A performing arts center, unique shops, restaurants and several festivals, including Rivertown Jamboree and Delta Blues Festival, enhance the riverfront downtown area. In addition residents enjoy Prewett Park Aquatic Center and Contra Loma Regional Park. Just southwest of Antioch, Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve has hiking trails and several historic sites.
