Office Assistant II Salary: $20.87-$$24.99. The City of Menlo Park, population 34,600, is one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier business and residential communities. It is a diverse community with an involved citizenry. The community has a highly committed and involved group of leaders and volunteers, which contributes to the City’s quality of life. Under the direction of the Community Services Director, the incumbent will type a variety of correspondence and other materials including reports, forms, meeting minutes, resolutions and legal documents. Duties may include: composing routine or standardized material in accordance with instructions and guidelines; compiling basic data for inclusion in reports and forms; preparing requisitions and purchase orders; maintaining records of departmental operations, including personnel time sheets; assisting visitors and callers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, is helpful, friendly, and courteous; shows initiative and creativity; exercises common sense and good judgment; learns quickly; is committed to public service in a team environment. Knowledge of office practices and procedures, including filing systems, record-keeping and reference sources; basic mathematics; proper correspondence forms and compositions; and correct punctuation, spelling, grammar and vocabulary is required. Final Filing by 5 pm on December 17, 2012. A completed application as well as responses to the supplemental questions are required and may be accompanied by a resume. Interviews are scheduled to take place on January 8, 2013. Individuals invited to be interviewed will recieve an e-vite. 



Vacation:   Progressive, paid vacation starting with 11 days per year.
Sick Leave:   8 hours per month.
Health Insurance: City contribution towards medical coverage.
Holidays: 11 holidays and 4-1/4 floating days off with pay per year.
Dental & Vision: City reimbursement plan. There is a six months’ waiting period.
Retirement: Public Employees’ Retirement System
Deferred Compensation: Voluntary.
Life Insurance: 1-1/2 times regular annual wage.
Long Term Disability: Subject to 90 days waiting period.
Benefits are prorated for part-time employees.
