Policy, Innovation, and Engagement Fellowship Program

The San Mateo County Manager’s Office is pleased to announce the creation of a new Policy, Innovation and Engagement Fellowship program for college graduates. This fellowship will provide experience at the highest levels of local government and help fellows launch careers as leaders.

This nine-month fellowship in the County Manager’s Office will prepare participants with hands-on project management in the areas of public policy development, innovative service and staffing models and civic engagement. The fellowship will provide recent graduates seeking a premier training opportunity in public service with the ability to manage important projects that bring new ideas and engage people in their communities with government.

  • Developing and implementing Social Media outreach tools to enhance online presence through communication channels to explore the potential of participatory democracy up close and the development of open data policies and programs.

Working as a team, the two fellows will collaborate with executive leadership on County and community projects. Fellows will serve 40 hours per week for nine months, beginning in February 2013 and receive a $35,000 stipend.
