Under general supervision, this position will assist the Sr. Recreation Supervisor with implementation of the aquatics program, which includes the lifeguard service and aquatic recreation programs. Develops in-house training to maintain adequate staffing of qualified and certified seasonal lifeguards. Determines staffing levels and adjusts the workforce size and work schedules to assure visitors the safest possible aquatic recreation.
Thorough knowledge of aquatic safety principles and practices and lifesaving techniques; knowledge of applicable lifesaving training and certification requirements. Must have knowledge of applicable emergency medical response training, and certification requirements; knowledge of supervisory principles and practices and sound judgment and leadership skills. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with divergent groups. Prepare reports; plan, direct and supervise the work of others; and follow oral and written instructions.
Education And Experience: Successful completion of two (2) years of College. Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience working in an Aquatics Setting, with two (2) of those four years in a supervisory role.
Certificates: Possession of a current Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid for Public Safety Personnel-Title 22, Blood Borne Pathogens, Oxygen Administration AED, and Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
