The Overnight Parking Enforcement Officer is the journey level class responsible for the enforcement of City overnight parking ordinances and issuing citations to vehicles that are parked in excess of thirty minutes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following) • Patrols assigned areas within the city; provides enforcement of the City’s overnight parking ordinance; writes citations for violations of vehicles not displaying properly issued City parking permits; investigates and reports suspicious or abandoned vehicles; testifies in court as required. • Chalks vehicles that appear to be abandoned. • Responds to questions and concerns from the business representatives, the general public, departmental staff and other agencies; provides information as appropriate and resolves service issues and complaints. • Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/ local agencies, City management and staff, and the public.


Ideal Candidate:

You must be available to work 20 hours per week, between the hours of 1:30 AM to 4:30 AM, 7 days a week (schedules will vary based on seniority).

QUALIFICATIONS: (The following are minimal qualifications necessary for entry into the classification.)

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for an Overnight Parking Enforcement Officer. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess a high school diploma or equivalent. License/Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California drivers license
