 PAY:Expected to be within the range $12-20 per hour.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Works is seeking a Construction Inspection Intern to work under the supervision of the Senior Construction Engineer in the Engineering Services Division. The intern will be involved in inspecting public works construction projects under the direction of one of the Public Works Inspectors. Depending on the candidate and workload, this position could also involve some exposure to construction contract administration. The intern would work on one or more construction projects as an assistant construction inspector. The intern would help ensure that the construction work is in accordance with the City standards and contract documents and prepare documentation such as daily inspectors’ logs and construction photographs. The intern will gain valuable field experience to help them meet their long-term goals as well as enable the City to provide a higher level of service. HOURS: Ideally 40 hours a week.
A recent graduate or third to fourth year civil engineering or construction management student would be ideal.
Some knowledge of construction work, construction management principles and/or civil engineering would be most beneficial. Valid, current driver’s license. Able and willing to work outside in dusty, noisy and busy construction sites for long periods of time.
Please note: the selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprinting background check.
