TEMPORARY- Full-Time, Non-Benefited

This position is open until filled.

$13.00-15.00  per hour


The Position

Under supervision, performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair and upkeep of parks, park and recreational facilities, public grounds and street trees; operates park maintenance equipment; and does related work as required.


Typical Duties:

Performs or learns to perform a variety of parks and grounds maintenance tasks including watering, mowing, edging, weeding, trimming, pruning, planting and removing flowers, plants, trees and turf; operates or is trained to operate park maintenance equipment and motor vehicles such as water trucks, chippers, power mowers, edgers, hand tools and related equipment; performs routine maintenance work in the care of tools and supplies; empties garbage cans, operates blowers, picks up litter, cleans bbq’s; prepares softball fields for play; may be required to work weekends or holidays or in the event of emergencies; and performs other related work as required.

Education and Experience:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Some park maintenance experience is helpful.


Knowledge of: Basic methods, supplies and tools used in the care of planted areas.


Ability to: Perform all duties as assigned; may perform heavy labor; operate and maintain a variety of equipment; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships and public relations.


Possession of: Valid California Driver's License.
