The Public Works Department is comprised of the Environmental Services Division, the Facilities Division and the Transportation/Private Development Division. The Department is responsible for the City’s streets, traffic signals, street lights, publicly owned parking lots and garages, sewers, storm drains, pump stations, a major lagoon, dams and levees.
The Department also has responsibility for the Wastewater Treatment Plant that handles all sewage treatment and disposal of treated water and sludge.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is a 15.7 MGD sub-regional facility that serves a population of more than 140,000 with an annual operating budget in excess of $10 million and has a staff of 29 professional and technical personnel.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I/II performs semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of all equipment in a wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift which can include nights, weekends and holidays. Performs related work as assigned.
Six months experience in handling of mechanical equipment and tools.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Operator I: Possession of a Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State of California.
Operator II: Possession of a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State of California.
