ABOUT THE POSITION


 


The City of Morgan Hill (pop. 38,309) is recruiting for the position of Municipal Services Assistant.  This position will provide administrative support to the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency and will support and report to the Executive Director of the agency. The incumbent will provide varied and responsible office and technical support and requires someone who is capable with numbers and mathematical calculations, is detail-oriented and well-organized, and who works well in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, the ability to learn quickly and to work efficiently under limited supervision.  This is a non-exempt position.  The City of Morgan Hill is an AFSCME agency shop.  Members of this class must either join AFSCME or pay an agency fee in lieu of membership.  This position is part of a 5-year Administrative Services Agreement with the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency, and is funded through August 31, 2018.


 


Examples of duties are:


 


·       Act as receptionist for the Habitat Agency, including fielding questions from visitors and callers, appropriately referring calls, taking messages and collecting and logging mail and other written submissions to the Agency.


·       Maintain the Agency’s website.


·       Maintain Agency records and databases.


·       Process and track contracts, publications, recorded documents, purchase orders, requisitions and other forms.


·       Prepare and update reports.


·       Other administrative and clerical duties as assigned.


   


JOB REQUIREMENTS


 


Education & Experience:


·       Equivalent to graduation from high school.


·       Four (4) years of office administrative experience.



 


BENEFITS


 


Health Allowance and Flexible Benefits Plan


 


Depending upon number of dependents, the health allowance ranges from $610 to $1,297 per month (pro-rated for a half-time time position) for core health benefits. The City’s flexible benefits plan includes medical and dental coverage as core benefits, and a range of optional benefits including eye care and medical and dependent care accounts. Term life insurance policy of $100,000, short-term and long-term disability plans is provided at City expense.


 


Retirement and Other Benefits


 


The City currently offers the PERS 2.5% at age 55 retirement plan for “classic members” as defined by the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) and 2% at age 62 for “new members”.  Your 8% employee contribution to PERS (6.25% for new members) will be deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis. The City offers deferred compensation plans with ICMA and MassMutual and contributes the equivalent of 2% of the employee’s salary. The City also offers a City-paid employee assistance program and a tuition reimbursement program. The City does not participate in Social Security.


 


Vacation, Sick Leave, Holidays


 


Annual vacation ranges from two to four weeks per year, based on years of service. The City observes 13.5 paid holidays (two are floating holidays) each year and a furlough between Christmas and New Years Day each year.
