Administrative Clerk II
The City of Pacifica is recruiting for a temporary Administrative Clerk II position for the Department of Public Works and invites you to be one of the first 150 qualified applicant to immediately apply.
THE JOB: This is a temporary non-benefited position working up to 37.5 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS; Ability to perform clerical work and to type 50 wpm, using computer equipment; ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees both in person and using email and the phone.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Type correspondence, memoranda, reports and other materials; type from rough draft copy, marginal notes or verbal instruction; perform clerical work requiring the interpretation of established policies and procedures; check and review a variety of data for accuracy, completeness and conformity to established standards; interpret departmental procedures for other employees and the public; make appointments and arrange meetings; collect and interpret data for records and reports; make arithmetical calculations; maintain mailing lists, files and compose routine correspondence; proficient in use of personal computers and standard software programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school AND two years of experience in clerical work in an office setting. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; knowledge of correct punctuation, spelling and grammatical usage. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel a must, experience with Outlook is preferred.
SALARY RANGE: The salary range is $23.53 per hour;

SELECTION PROCESS: Apply immediately. The most qualified candidates will be invited to a written examination, followed by an oral panel interview that may include a practical exercise, date to be determined. DUTIES: Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with the public both telephonically and in person in the frontline position. Office Administration - Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel in the preparation of documents; payroll processing; data entry; filing, public mailings; other duties as assigned. Ability to use the Internet to assist with reserach. Act as liaison between the various departments within the City of Pacifica and the public. Other clerical duties may include planning of events, maintaining training calendars, department calendar on Outlook, attendance/payroll documentaton.
SKILLS: Multi-task in a busy environment. Outstanding customer service phone and counter skills, proficient in math and computer programs; Excel, Word, Internet, Outlook, database programs. Ability to interact in a teamwork environment.
