GET PAID TO PLAY! Chico Area Recreation & Park District is accepting applications for youth flag football coaches and officials.
WHAT: CARD is currently looking for l coaches and officials. Coaches are responsible for setting up their own progressive practice plans while following the guidelines set forth by CARD. In addition, coaches are expected to provide a fun, supportive, positive, and safe recreational sports experience. Officials are required to know CARD’s flag football rules and enforce them safety and fairly during games, while making sure all players/coaches/spectators are gaining a “love of the game” in a positive environment.
WHY: CARD needs people who can coach in a recreational setting and spread a “love of the game”. Coaches must be able to coach and communicate with children at age appropriate levels and know how to break down the fundamentals of sports. Coaches must be able to set-up parent meetings, plan, set-up, and run progressive practices, and have a professional sideline game demeanor. Officials need to communicate with children, players, coaches and parents during the course of the game and be prepared to enforce and explain rules.
TIME COMMITMENT: Season will run end of August through mid-October. Coaches: Each team that is coached takes only 3 hours a week. Games are Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday between 4-7pm. Practices times are at the discretion of the coach. Officials: Youth games are Tuesday-Thursday between 4-7pm.
The ideal candidate will be able to provide a fun and positive recreational sports experience encompassing a “Love of the Game” philosophy. Having knowledge of the sport is important, but the ability to coach/officiate children in an age appropriate manner that enables program participants to learn and improve skills, while fostering positive self-esteem, and promoting sportsmanship is a requirement. Having football coaching, officiating and/or playing experience is recommended.
