Salary: $5,801.00 - $7,051.00 Monthly
The Associate serves as the department’s representative in the Planning Director’s absence and must demonstrate strong communication skills both verbal and written, possess a dedication to teamwork and the ability to balance the organization’s commitment to a high level of customer service with the needs of project applicants.
Job duties include review of residential projects of moderate complexity to ensure compliance with the Town’s codes and policies including site analysis meetings; preparation of reports for and attendance at Planning Commission meetings; code compliance items; and development of ordinances.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, architecture, or a related field and three years current planning experience are required. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of planning experience, AICP certification, and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth through continuing education.
The ideal candidate will also possess a substantial understanding of zoning regulations and CEQA; strong analytical writing and presentation skills; the ability to understand architectural and engineering plans; a familiarity with PC software for word processing and presentations; and the ability to effectively manage challenging situations while maintaining positivity and professionalism.
Retirement - Full-time permanent employees are enrolled in the California Public Employee Retirement System's "2% @ 55" benefit and the employer pays 100% of the employer and employee contribution. Full-time permanent employees do not participate in Social Security.
Medical - The Town's cafeteria plan allows access to CalPERS health plans for employees and their eligible dependents with no out-of-pocket premium cost to the employee for all plans except PERSCare. Employees with proof of insurance from another source may opt-out of Town paid medical and receive additional compensation.
Other benefits - Town pays dental and vision premiums for eligible employees and their dependents. Long Term Disability and term life insurance are also paid by the Town. Employee Assistance Program, ICMA-RC 457 and Hartford 457 deferred compensation plans are available.
