Under general supervision from the KALB Media Administrator or designee with community access TV and video production activities in the studio and field; uses creative writing and graphic design skills to develop content for and produce original short videos about City services and programs which may be cablecast, broadcast and used on the internet and on social media; provides support for the City's public information efforts; coordinates and schedules government meeting cablecasts; provides coverage of City-related special events and City meetings as assigned; and work with the City Administration staff to develop video production.

KALB Programmer

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Filming meetings
  • Assisting volunteer production crew
  • Programming channel content
  • Special events as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an education in OR have two years of experience working in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, graphic arts, or a closely related field

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, 5-20 hours/week, in office and out in field setting

  • Must possess a valid class C California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced work environment
  • Can commit to a minimum of three (3) months internship or equivalent to one semester
  • Has knowledge of and experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
  • Has excellent graphic design skills
  • Is responsible, shows ability to work under supervision as well as independently
  • Provides effective written and oral communication skills, demonstrates concise and creative writing skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Has the ability to multi-task
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint and Outlook)
  • Html proficiency, photography and/or videography is also highly desirable


This is a temporary position that is not eligible for benefits beyond what is required by law.
