Description

The City of Albany is currently looking for a part-time (15-25 hours per week) Recreation Projects Assistant to assist the Recreation & Community Services Department with a variety of programs and events. 

Typical Job Duties

  • Keep social media sites and websites current and engaging

  • Coordinate and solicit volunteers for events and programs

  • Work with staff to coordinate special event marketing and logistics

  • Assist with front desk operations

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Two years of experience working in a recreation department, or a related field

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Commitment to building community through programs, events and services

  • Able to work a flexible weekday schedule (and occasional nights and weekends)

  • Must possess a valid class C California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience coordinating recreational programs

  • Is proficient using MS Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat

  • Is familiar with InDesign, and Photoshop, and updating CMS websites

  • Has experience with the use of social media platforms to promote events and activities

  • Has experience with major special event planning and coordination

  • Works well in a fast-paced, often hectic environment, and can meet established deadlines

  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Maintains organized records, schedules, contact lists, etc.

  • Is detail-oriented

  • Performs work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative, and works well independently

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with the general public and those contacted in the course of work

  • Solves problems and resolves conflicts as they arise
