The City of Burlingame is seeking an organized and motivated Recreation Specialist to work in the Parks and Recreation Department. The Recreation Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service and front line program coverage to a fast paced department. General duties include: assisting with department programming, serving as a liaison to outside contractors, processing class registrations, providing information to the public regarding recreation programs, facility and picnic rentals; and cash handling. Work is performed under general supervision.
Knowledge of: Office practices and procedures; basic mathematics; correspondence forms and correct punctuation, spelling, grammar and vocabulary and basic records retention systems.
Ability to: Acquire a working knowledge of the functions, procedures and policies of the city and its operations; perform duties without immediate supervision; maintain accurate and complete records.
Skills: Operate a variety of office equipment including personal computer, calculator, photocopier and mail machine/scale. Utilize a variety of office software applications, particularly MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
License: Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license.
Education and Experience: Sufficient experience and education to perform the above duties. A typical qualifying background would be graduation from high school and one year of experience working in an office environment.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $21.00-$25.53 per hour. This position is a non-benefited, part-time, casual position and in compliance with the AB1522 Paid Sick Leave Benefit. This benefit accrues at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked to a maximum benefit of 24 hours per year. There is no cash value associated with benefit. No other benefits are offered. This position is at will and is not part of the City's Civil Service System. There is no guarantee of hours and employment may end at any time.
