Salary: $15.00-$26.00 per hour (Depending on experience)

This temporary non-benefited, at-will classification performs a variety of semi‑skilled work in the care and maintenance of City buildings.

Duties: Performs a variety of maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, performing carpentry and plumbing work; maintaining the chemical balance in the swimming pool; responding to maintenance work orders submitted by City Departments; troubleshooting electrical problems and performing routine repairs; drives and operates pickup trucks, forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts; uses a variety of tools such as power saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools and equipment; and performs other related work as required.

Knowledge of: Safe electrical, plumbing and carpentry practices; safe use of hand and power tools; simple preventive maintenance procedures; safety practices and precautions to be used in work; equipment operation safety; materials, tools, equipment, supplies & procedures used in custodial and building maintenance work.

Ability to: Perform all assigned duties in the areas of building maintenance, custodial work & pool maintenance; perform tasks requiring normal physical dexterity; follow oral and written instructions; read, write & understand English; perform basic arithmetic calculations; make simple measurements; operate mobile radio communications equipment; climb ladders and perform work at considerable heights; lift weights of 20 – 100 pounds; deal effectively with the public and work flexible work schedule which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one year related public works maintenance experience.

Possession of: Valid California Driver's License.
