(Lifeguard I/II Applicants do not have to apply for Swim Instructor)

Training days will vary and start in May. The pools are open May - September, 2018. Pool hours are 7:30am-9:30pm. Staff must be available for all training. Mandatory training days will be held between May 21st - June 8th, 2018.
Chico Area Recreation & Park District is accepting applications for Lifeguard II & Lifeguard I.
With the general guidance and direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, the Lifeguard I is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons and participants by maintaining control over the pool area. The Lifeguard I will also teach swimming lessons as required.
· Lifeguard Training Certification
· CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification (or equivalent)
· First Aid for Public Safety Personnel – Title 22 Certification (or higher)
· Must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
· Must pass a pre-employment background check & drug screen.
Note: Employees 18 years and older may be assigned to Sycamore Pool.
In addition to the duties and functions of the Lifeguard I, the Lifeguard II will act as a communication link between the lifeguards and the Aquatic Coordinator/Aquatic Supervisor. The Lifeguard II will assist with customer complaints, lifeguard discipline and be responsible for opening and closing facilities.
In addition to all of the qualifications required for the Lifeguard position, the Lifeguard II is required to have the following:
- Minimum 1 full season experience as a lifeguard/swim instructor.
Note: Employees 18 years of age or older may be assigned to Sycamore Pool.
We are looking for qualified applicants who have excellent customer service skills, are well organized, professional, enjoy children and have prior experience in an aquatic environment. Applicants must be able to work during the specified program hours.
NOTE: CARD is offering two courses in Lifeguard Training, one Lifeguard Training Recertification course and one course in Water Safety Instructor (WSI), which interested applicants may take to enable them to meet the application requirements of the available positions. There is still space available in the courses.
