Full-Time Account Clerk II

This is the semi-skilled level of accounting clerical series. Employees are expected to work with a minimum of supervision on routine and regularly assigned functions. The Account Clerk II may answer questions and assist in the training of an Account Clerk I. Account Clerk II performs a variety of clerical, bookkeeping, accounting and administrative work in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general finance functions; performs routine clerical, administrative and financial work by receiving payments from customers or others for payment of goods or services received; and performs related duties as required.

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or GED with specialized course work in or with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, accounting and data processing, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience as an Account Clerk I or closely related position.
Some positions may require minor driving for pick-up and delivery. In these cases, possession of a valid Class C California Motor Vehicle Operators License is required.
Holidays: The City recognizes 11 days each calendar year plus 2 floating holidays.
Vacation: Employees earn 3.70 hours of vacation per pay period for the first three years and increases to the maximum of 9.23 hours per pay period.
Sick Leave: 3.70 hours earned per pay period with no maximum accrual cap.
Retirement: Employees in this classification are members of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) for Miscellaneous. The city does not participate in Social Security.
Health Insurance: Employee pays a portion for employee and dependent coverage of medical, dental, health and life insurance.
Medicare: City pays 1.45% of salary; employee pays 1.45% of salary.
SDI: 1% of salary paid by employee.
Deferred Compensation: CalPERS 457 Deferred Compensation program is available for employee participation.
Additional: Longevity pay based on years of service; City pays all state mandated training and licenses.
