ELECTRIC UTILITY SYSTEMS DESIGNER
$39.11 - $47.55 HOURLY

Under the direction of the City Engineer, oversees, reviews and performs work activities and duties assigned to the Electrical Engineering Unit; assumes responsibility for the more difficult and complex tasks of office and field engineering work related to the planning, design and construction of electrical distribution systems.
Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for an Electric Utility Systems Designer. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of four (4) years of directly related experience in the planning, design, installation, and inspection of electric utility distribution systems. An Associate of Arts Degree in Engineering or a closely related field is required.
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver License and Associate of Arts degree.
The ideal candidate will have over five (5) years of experience as stated in the Minimum Qualification section of this job flyer. At least two (2) years experience as a supervisory is highly desired. The candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the work of subordinate staff; assisting in the selection and hiring process for new staff; managing and overseeing the operations and activities of the Electrical Engineering Technician and inspection services.
In addition, a thorough understanding of operations, practices, principles and procedures of the electric utility engineering program are desired.
