Recreation Leader (Cupertino Teen Center)
The City of Cupertino Recreation and Community Services Department is currently recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders in the following year-round program: Cupertino Teen Center. These are part-time, temporary, non-benefited positions with a maximum of 995 hours per fiscal year.
Position: Recreation Leader (part-time temporary, non-benefited position, maximum 995 hours per fiscal year)
Hours per Week: 10-20 (approximate)
Salary Range: $13.50 to $15.50 per hour
Applicants with a high school diploma or GED equivalency will begin at step 3 of the salary schedule.

Under supervision, the Recreation Leader plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities for the Cupertino Teen Center and does related work as required.
Recreation Leaders are responsible for the overall planning, organization, and leadership of recreation programs at the Teen Center. The ideal Recreation Leader is expected to form positive relationships with teens by engaging in different activities at the Teen Center, provide supervision of program participants, lead different programs and events at the Teen Center, maintain a positive and safe work environment, support fellow Recreation Leaders and Senior Recreation Leaders, participate in the maintenance of facilities and equipment, attend staff meetings, and respect departmental policies and procedures.
Typical activities include, but are not limited to: arts, crafts, sports, games, trips, contests, and special events. The Recreation Leader may supervise volunteers and ensure that the assigned programs meet the needs and interests of the participants while maintaining good relations with staff, parents, neighbors, and other concerned groups.
The Recreation Leader must possess the ability to engage youth in activities, have experience working with youth/teens, have knowledge of safety precautions, be able to work with fellow leaders, and prepare accurate reports and marketing material.
- Be able to work weekday afternoons and weekends
- Must have a high school diploma/ GED
- A valid California Driver's License
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified (Certification and re-certification courses will be offered to new employees)
Must be able to provide own transportation to and from work
