Customer Service Attendant - Childcare, Cupertino Sports Center 

Position: The Cupertino Sports Center is currently seeking part time temporary non-benefited Customer Service Attendants to work at the Cupertino Sports Center. Hours are limited to no more than 995 hours per fiscal year.

Salary Range:  $14.00 to $16.00 per hour

Approximate Hours Per Week: 20. Please note this position is an afternoon, evening and weekend position.

The Position: Under  direction, the Customer Service Attendant  supervises, interacts with, and  plans age appropriate activities for children 6 months to 10 years of age; interacts directly with the general public; receives and accounts for money; performs various clerical duties and facility management duties; interacts directly with the general public; and performs related work as required.    

Examples of Duties: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: open the room, check for safety issues, child proof the room, set up activities, supervise and interact with infants and children, provide a variety of age appropriate activities (crafts, stories, games, sports, free play) participate in activities with the children. Collect money and process memberships, prepare reports, operate calculator, telephone system, copy and fax machine, computers, printers, cash drawer, processes contracts; unlock doors prior to scheduled activities; inspects building and report malfunctioning equipment and security measures. Perform final security inspection before securing and locking building. Answers questions and complaints or refers them to appropriate officials. May perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications
Ability to: sit at a desk on a continuous basis for long periods of time, operate a multi-line telephone, operate basic PC software, lift or carry weight of 45 pounds or less, handle cash drawer settlements and nightly deposits, take court reservations, set up tables and chairs for special functions, perform light cleaning and maintenance duties, proficiently use computer programs to check-in members and guests, generate contracts, register participants for lessons, sign up new members, perform point of sale/cash register functions, run reports. Must have the ability to monitor the facility: fitness room, tennis courts and racquetball court reservations, locker rooms, and all other areas and aspects of the facility and grounds. Explain and enforce pertinent city and department policies and procedures. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must be able to maintain a positive attitude with patrons and must be able to manage time effectively, show work initiative, and work independently.

A minimum of one year of child care experience, ability to: on a continuous basis, sit on the floor for long periods of time, lift or carry weight of 45 pounds or less, cleaning and maintenance duties, explain enforce pertinent city and department policies and procedures. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Experience and Education 
A minimum of one year of child care experience. College level courses in Early Childhood Education and relevant work experience, including day care experience, is desireable. 

Licenses and Certifications
Current CPR and First Aid certification. Must be CPR and First Aid certified within two months of employment. If you are offered a position, CPR and First Aid certification and re-certification training will be offered to employees. Possible training dates will be discussed with employees.
