Description

The Town is hiring for both Program Leader and Program Assistant positions.

 

Both roles are part-time, temporary, non-benefitted positions; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per fiscal year); predominantly afternoon/early evening schedule with some weekends and concurrent with the school year.

 

PROGRAM LEADER (Teen Center Staff)

Salary Range: $11.00 to $14.06/hour

 

GENERAL DUTIES

Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator and Teen Program Assistant, and direct supervision of the Teen Center Site Leader, the Program Leader is responsible for supervision and safety within the Middle School Teen Centers, as well as planning and implementing a variety of daily and weekly activities for middle school students.  As a Teen Center staff member, you will:

  • Gain experience planning and leading arts, crafts, games, and clubs;
  • Serve as a mentor and role model to students;
  • Learn to work as part of a team; and
  • Acquire skills to safely and appropriately supervise students in an after-school, drop-in recreation environment.

 

PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Teen Center Site Leader)

Salary Range: $14.06 to $23.88/hour

 

GENERAL DUTIES

Under the general direction of the Program Coordinator, the Teen Center Site Leader is responsible for the day to day operations, supervision, and safety within the Middle School Teen Centers.  In addition to Teen Staff duties you will:

  • Gain experience supervising and mentoring part-time staff;
  • Learn to prepare accurate daily and weekly attendance reports; and
  • Develop valuable customer service skills by interacting with parents of students and addressing their feedback 

 

ABOUT TEEN PROGRAMS

 

The Town of Danville strives to offer youth and teen programs and services which create community by providing recreational experiences, fostering human development, increasing cultural unity, promoting health and wellness, and strengthening community image and sense of place. 

 

Middle School (Teen Centers) 

The Teen Centers provide middle school students a safe and fun place to go after school.  All Teen Centers have game consoles, flat screen TVs, sports equipment, computer access, table top games and much more. The Teen Centers are open for school early release days and some non-school days and are closed during holidays.

 

Shifts and Locations

 

Charlotte Wood Middle School:

Mon–Fri, 2:30–5:30pm

 

Diablo Vista Middle School:

Mon–Tue, Thu–Fri, 2:30–5:30pm

Wed, 1:45–5:30pm (early dismissal day)

 

Los Cerros Middle School:

Mon–Fri, 2:15–5:30pm

 

Other programs utilizing part-time temporary staff include Teen Day Trips, VolunTEENS, high school events, and youth special events.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Prior to the start of employment, applicants must provide proof of authorization to work in the United States, current (negative) TB test results, and successfully pass a background check (LiveScan).
