Danville Poet Laureate
The Town Council created the Youth Poet Laureate position in April 2022 to serve as a public advocate for the appreciation and advancement of the literary arts, particularly poetry, reading poetry for civic events and dedications.
The responsibilities of the Youth Poet Laureate include the following:
(a) create and read poetry for civic events and activities, as invited by the Town Council;
(b) serve as a liaison between the Arts Commission and local literary organizations; and,
(c) act as a resource on the topic of poetry.
Candidates must meet the following qualifications: Danville resident of high school age.
Term of Office
The term of office of the Youth Poet Laureate is two (2) years, unless otherwise determined by the Town Council.
The Poet Laureate does not receive compensation for their services or attendance at meetings and events.
The Poet Laureate must be a resident of the Town of Danville.
The Town Council is seeking a Youth Poet Laureate who is a Danville resident of high school age.
