Description

This position is open until filled and may close when a sufficient number of applications have been received. Applications will be reviewed weekly until the position has been filled.

The City of Dixon Recreation and Community Services Department is accepting applications for one (1) position of Aquatics Supervisor for the 2018 Aquatics Season.

The Aquatics Supervisor organizes, leads, supervises and performs all aquatic activities related to the management and operation of the City of Dixon swimming pool. The Aquatics Supervisor also performs regular lifeguard duties, organizes and instructs swim classes.

The position is responsible for scheduling, training and evaluating aquatic staff; as well as resolving complaints and maintaining good public relations. The work requires a considerable degree of independent judgment, initiative and tact.

This is a temporary/seasonal position working the Aquatic Season through the end of October 2018. Staff can average between 30-40 hours per week based on the season, needs of the program, and staff availability.  Staff may be required to work weekends and holidays.

This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in a interview process. The most qualified candidates from this process will be placed on an employment eligibility list. Note: the examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.

Certificates:  Must have the following current American Red Cross certificates:

  • Lifeguard Training/First Aid
  • CPR-AED for Lifeguards
  • First Aid for the Public Safety Personnel (Title 22)

Possession of a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) is highly desirable.

Education: Completion of the 12th grade or the equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of two years experience at a swimming pool as an instructor and lifeguard. Experience in pool management and supervision of employees is desired.
