Description

The City of Dixon Invites Applications for RECREATION LEADER for Youth Basketball Temporary/Seasonal approx. 15-20 hr/wk - (No Medical Benefits) 

THE POSITION: Performs a variety of duties to insure that the City of Dixon's recreational activities such as playground program, day camp, and special events are enjoyable and safe for participants. Conducts games, arts & crafts, and recreational activities; assists with the planning of activities; ensures that facilities and equipment are safe for use; performs related and other work as required.

Youth Basketball Program: The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill approximately eight (8) temporary, seasonal positions for the Youth Basketball Program. Hours will include weekends and evenings.

Typical duties include: refereeing youth basketball, gym set-up, and scorekeeping.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applications are invited from qualified persons who possess the knowledge and abilities to perform the job. A typical way to obtain such knowledge and ability would be:

Education:  None Required

Experience: Some experience working with children; and knowledge of games and arts & crafts projects is desirable. Knowledge of typical rules and procedures of basketball is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Selected positions may require a CPR card prior to beginning work. Must be at least 14 years old by time of employment.
  • California Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
  • Selected positions may require possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as a condition on initial and continued employment.
  • Spanish speaking ability is desirable, but not required.
  • This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: November 2018 through March 2019

Ideal Candidate

Looking for candidates (14+ year age) who enjoy working with youth. Must be able to work weekends and evenings. Some experience and knowledge of typical rules and procedures of basketball is preferred.

Benefits

This position does not receive any medical, dental or vision benefits.

CalPERS Annuitants will be limited to only 960 hours in a fiscal year.
