The City of Dixon is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Lieutenant in the Police Department. The ideal candidate is a leader who possesses strong interpersonal skills and has a vision for progressive and professional police leadership.

SELECTION PROCESS: Apply immediately and include all required documents at the time application is submitted. Applications and supplemental questions will be reviewed and screened, and the most qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. The process includes a Personal History Statement (PHS) review, interview, CVSA exam, extensive personal background investigation, credit history, pre-employment medical, with drug test, and psychological assessments.
Failure of any component during the exam process eliminates the candidate from further selection processing.
EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING: All appointees are required to complete a field training program and successfully complete an 18-month probationary period, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS will be applied. A copy of the DD214 form must be filed at the time of application.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Police Science or a related field.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in law enforcement work including two (2) years of experience in a position equivalent to Police Sergeant in the City of Dixon.
Other Requirements: Possession of a P.O.S.T. Intermediate Certificate is required; a P.O.S.T. Advanced Certificate and P.O.S.T. Supervisor’s Certificate or higher are desirable. A valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Must successfully complete a background investigation as a condition of initial employment with Dixon Police Department.
