Seeking an individual to fill a full-time position of Junior Engineer in the City Engineer/Public Works Department.
To perform a wide variety of technical and professional engineering work in the design, construction and maintenance of public works projects; to plan and coordinate major public works programs; facilitate/ coordinate private development; and to assist in supervision of engineering division activities.

Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training, and experience will be invited to participate in an oral board interview process tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2019. The most qualified candidates from this process will be placed on an employment eligibility list. Note: the examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.
Employment Processing: Those selected are subject to a 12-month probation period, and may be subject to pre-employment drug testing and fingerprinting. In accordance with Federal law, an employee must provide proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
Experience: None required, although highly desirable.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months of assignment, a valid Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS Must be able to perform tasks requiring: sitting, standing, walking; occasional exposure to chemicals, skin irritants, fumes and solvents; generally inside work with occasional outside work with exposure to weather, odors, dust and pollen; the use of sense of smell; acute hearing to distinguish audible alarms; finger and hand coordination; use of computers; and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for job assignments; must comply with respiratory protection program and Cal OSHA standards.
