The City of Dixon Recreation and Community Services Department is accepting applications for three (3) position of Assistant Aquatics Supervisor for the 2019 Aquatics Season.
This position organizes, leads, supervises and performs all aquatic activities as related to the management and operation of the City of Dixon swimming pool in the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor. Performs regular lifeguard duties, organizes and instructs swim classes. Performs related and other work as required.
The Assistant Aquatics Supervisor has responsible charge of all aquatics activities in the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor. This is a first line supervisor with responsibility for scheduling, training and evaluating subordinate employees; as well as resolving complaints and maintaining good public relations. The work requires a considerable degree of independent judgment, initiative and tact.
This is a temporary/seasonal position working the Aquatic Season through the end of October 2019. Staff can average between 30-40 hours per week based on the season, needs of the program, and staff availability. Staff may be required to work weekends and holidays.
This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.

The most qualified candidates from this process will be placed on an employment eligibility list. Note: the examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Completion of the twelfth grade or the equivalent.
Experience: One year experience at a swimming pool as an instructor and lifeguard. Experience in pool management and supervising employees is desirable.
Other Requirements: Assistant Aquatics Supervisor must have current certificates in Lifeguard Training/First Aid, CPR/AED for lifeguards, and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title22). Water Safety Instructor certificate is desirable, but not mandatory. Employees in this classification may be subject to alcohol and drug testing. Adhering to the City's Drug and Alcohol Policy is a condition of employment.
This position does not receive any medical, dental or vision benefits.
CalPERS Annuitants will be limited to only 960 hours in a fiscal year.
