The City of Dixon Invites Applications for RECREATION SPECIALIST I/II for Youth Basketball Temporary/Seasonal approx. 15-20 hr/wk - (No Medical Benefits)
THE POSITION: This position organizes, monitors, oversees, leads or assists with a variety of City of Dixon recreation activities such as after school programs, day camp, special events, aquatic events, adult sports and youth sports. Conducts games, arts & crafts, and recreational activities; supervises staff and plans activities; opens and readies facilities; ensures facilities and equipment are safe for use; performs related and other work as required.
Youth Basketball Program: The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill temporary, seasonal positions for the Youth Basketball Program. Hours will include weekends and evenings.
Typical duties include: refereeing youth basketball, gym set-up, and scorekeeping.

Recreation Specialist I:
Education: Must be currently enrolled in or graduated from an educational institution working toward a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience: Some experience working with children; planning and implementing recreation and sports activities; and supervising staff is required.
- Select positions may require the ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certificates prior to start date
- California Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
- Selected positions may require possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as a condition on initial and continued employment.
- Must be at least 16 years old by time of employment
- Spanish speaking ability is desirable, but not required.
- This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.
Recreation Specialist II:
Education: Must be currently enrolled in or graduated from an educational institute working toward a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience: Equivalent to one (1) year working as a Recreation Specialist I in the City of Dixon.
Other Requirements :
- Select positions may require the ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certificates prior to start date.
- Must be at least 17 years old by time of employment
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: December 2019 through March 2020

Looking for candidates (16+ years of age) who enjoy working with youth. Must be able to work weekends and evenings. Some experience and knowledge of typical rules and procedures of basketball is preferred.

CalPERS Annuitants will be limited to only 960 hours in a fiscal year.
