The City of Dixon is accepting application to fill one (1) full-time position of Transit Driver/Dispatcher and to establish an eligibility list for future use.
This position drives a Readi-Ride General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) on a demand responsive curb-to-curb transit system and assist patrons boarding and leaving the bus, especially the elderly, disabled, and school age children. May also assist in collecting information relating to the operation of the system; receive ride requests and organize the vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs; and, will work closely with the drivers and Transit Supervisor to ensure coordinated efforts.
Transit Driver/Dispatcher– This position is distinguished from the higher level classification of Transit Coordinator by the latter is a supervisory classification with overall responsibility for overseeing and implementing transit related programs. It is further distinguished from Transit Driver II by the former also performs dispatching duties as a regular assignment.
Receives general supervision from the Transit Supervisor.

Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in an interview process (weighted 100%). The most qualified candidates from this process will be placed on an employment eligibility list. Note: the examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.
Employment Processing: Those selected are subject to a 12-month probation period, and may be subject to pre-employment drug testing and fingerprinting. In accordance with Federal law, an employee must provide proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.
Veteran's Preference Points: Veteran's Preference points will be applied. A PDF copy of the DD214 form must be filed at the time of application.

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school.
Experience: Satisfactory completion of the City of Dixon Driver Trainee on-the-job training program.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class B Driver’s License with passenger endorsement and a California Highway Patrol General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) Certificate within 90 days of appointment.
Satisfactory completion of a DMV medical exam including drug screen is a condition of employment.
Must submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
Must submit to fingerprinting process.
The ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
Full-Time Permanent Employees in this classification are represented by Public Employees Union, Local One.
CalPERS Annuitants will be limited to only 960 hours in a fiscal year and this position is full-time.
