CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL

Salary: $11,558 - $14,049 Monthly

$138,703 - $168,594 Annually

Plus an attractive benefits package

Onsite/ Monday- Friday 8hrs. per day

The Chief Building Official plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and reviews the work of professional, technical, and administrative staff performing difficult and complex support related to all programs and activities of the Building Division. In addition, this position administers Building Code activities; manages the effective use of the City's permit processing, plans examination, building inspection, and code compliance resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service. The incumbent will provide highly complex and responsible support to the Community and Economic Development Director and in areas of expertise; and perform related duties, as assigned.

5. Please select all areas in which you have professional experience in:

• Principles, practices, methods, materials, techniques, and safety standards of building construction, inspection, code violation, investigation, compliance, and structural design for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.

• Applicable state, federal, and local construction codes, zoning ordinances, and related codes.

• Techniques for effectively representing the City in contacts with governmental agencies, community groups, various business, professional, educational, and regulatory organizations, and with property owners, developers, contractors, and the public.

• Practices for documenting inspections, correcting violations, and carrying through court procedures.

• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of building inspection and construction and code compliance.

• Record keeping principles and procedures, report preparation, filing methods, and records management techniques.

• General office procedures, policies, and practices, as well as knowledge of computers and other general office equipment and associated software, and safe work rules and practices required by Cal OSHA.

• Applying, explaining codes and regulations to property owners, and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and departmental policies governing the construction and inspection of buildings.

• Reviewing, understanding, interpreting, and analyzing construction blueprints, plans, specifications, architect and engineering drawings, and maps for conformance with City standards and policies.
