PLEASE NOTE: This is a part-time position working fewer than 950 hours per fiscal year and is non-benefited.
The Recreation Leader/Teen Specialist will be a member of a dynamic team charged with delivering creative, innovative, and enriching recreational programs for the Emeryville Recreation Center. This position will be primarily responsible for leading our Teen programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the direct supervision and safety of all teen participants. Implements and follows all Teen Center Guidelines, Policies & Procedures. Plans, creates, and participates in teen activities, providing the youth with an active, positive role model. Supervises field trips, which may include bus travel to local attractions, taking attendance and assisting with record-keeping; issues, maintains and stores equipment and supplies; interacts with children, parents, caregivers, volunteers and City staff; ensures the safety and well-being of program participants.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 21 years of age. There are no educational requirements for this position; however, experience in a structured or supervised recreational program and/or college level training in Recreation, Physical Education, Education, or a related field is desirable. Salary and program assignment will be based on relevant experience in the field or college coursework.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Eye sight sufficient to read data, memos, spreadsheets, vouchers, computer screens; manual dexterity to operate a personal computer, typewriter, copy machine, word processor; ability to sit for extended periods; stand, walk, bend reach above and below shoulders, lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds; stamina to interact with a variety of school-age children.
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position.
