Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. Additionally, the position requires good written communication skills, public relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and abilities. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

Essential Job Functions

(May include, but are not limited to, the following):

• Design and produce effective collateral for digital and print to promote programs, events and services
• Design and produce graphics materials using computer-based and traditional methods to meet organizational standards and deadlines
• Produce highly creative work within an established organizational style
• Edit electronic newsletter articles and blurbs, program descriptions for activity guide/fliers/online descriptions and social media posts
• Follow all City standards related to branding and writing (Associated Press style), or as otherwise directed, and meet deadlines
• Develop written content and edit for brochures, reports, logos and other marketing and presentation materials
• Consult with City staff and provide technical coaching and training to colleagues
• Participate in the planning, development and production of written and graphics materials
• Assist staff in the development of presentations using PowerPoint and other presentation software
• Create, develop and monitor posts and comments for social media accounts
• Represent the division at community outreach events (such as fairs, special events, etc.) by promoting community services programs and services
• Perform other duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, graphic arts or a closely related field; AND
• One year of related work experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of:

• Computer programs utilized in the production of marketing collateral; specifically, the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Dynamics of development of social media sites
• Basic principles of graphic design
• The Associated Press writing style

Ability to:

• Follow general instructions, directions and procedures;
• Accomplish assigned work and administrative tasks working independently or with a minimum of supervision;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is completion of 60 college semester units. Previous volunteer or paid experience in a law enforcement support area is desirable.
 
Other requirements include:

• Must be free from any disqualifications for employment, including felony convictions.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
• Must be 21 years of age or older at time of appointment.
• Must be fingerprinted for purposes of search of local, state, and national fingerprint files to disclose a criminal record.
• Must be of good moral character, as determined by a thorough background investigation.
• Must be a high school graduate, pass the General Education Development Test or other high school equivalency test approved by the State Department of Education that indicates high school graduation level, pass the California High School Proficiency Examination, or have attained a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.

If you are unable to attend the City of Berkeley exam dates, you may register and take your exams with The Academy. The Academy charges a non-refundable materials fee of $10 for the written exam, $25 for the practice PAT, and $100 for the official PAT. After taking the exams and receiving passing scores, please attach your scores to your application.

POST will not authorize you to take the exam within 30 calendar days of having taken your last POST written exam. Please refer to the POST website for additional information.

Applicants may waive the written exam only by submitting a California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) T-score of 48 points or higher. We will accept California POST T-scores from other agencies provided the test was taken no more than one year prior to the date of application. Applicants must submit, on agency letterhead, a letter that states that the individual has taken the California PELLETB written exam. The letter must contain the total T-score and the date of the test. For information on where the PELLETB test is offered, please visit www.theacademy.ca.gov/tests.

Applicants may waive the performance exam only by submitting a California POST physical agility certificate, known as the Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB), with a score of 325 or higher.  The 1.5-mile run is not a requirement.  The test should not be dated no more than one year prior to the date of application.

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.  The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community.

The Position

As a member of the HSD assigned to the AFS, the Senior Program Coordinator will organize, coordinate, and implement community wellness programs for older adults. The Community Programs include health promotion activities such as health screenings, wellness classes, and educational activities. The position works within a team that includes volunteers, health promoters, nurses, social workers and mental health workers. The position facilitates community awareness and partnerships, with individuals and agencies, to promote an age-friendly environment.

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Requirements: Must have the ability to  learn Midpen lands, pertinent laws and regulations and contact, educate and inform the public about the lands and regulations ; administer first aid and CPR; operate and maintain various power tools and equipment; operate two-way radios; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; and other duties as assigned.

Certificates Needed: A valid California driver license is required upon appointment; valid professional rescuer CPR certificate and basic First Aid certificate (Midpen will offer training to candidates who do not possess CPR/First Aid certificates upon appointment).

Education & Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Six months experience working in a customer service related field.  Some experience or training in a parks settings is desirable.

Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 7 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits

Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. This requires the ability to patrol on foot, off trail, and in rugged terrain.  Also requires the ability to perform related emergency services and maintenance and construction work on Midpen lands. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff-Lateral. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking a highly-qualified Social Worker III - Discharge Planner/Case Manager to provide highly skilled, intensive discharge planning and case management to individuals and their families, and provide casework consultation within SMMC and to outside agencies.

The Social Worker III - Discharge Planner/Case Manager position will support SMMC to provide services related to discharge planning/case management on various units of the hospital, including the Medical/Surgical unit, Intensive Care Unit, Acute Psychiatry unit, Short Term Rehabilitation unit, Emergency Room, and Psychiatric Emergency Services. This includes needs assessment, assistance in financial resource management, crisis management, service delivery planning and follow up, and referrals to public, community-based services and programs. The candidate should be familiar with the rules and regulations governing skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The ideal candidate will have direct experience working in an acute care hospital setting performing discharge planning, including appropriate documentation in accordance with all Medicare and Medi-Cal regulations, and should be experienced working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and LEAN principles.

The current vacancy is an on-site, Full-Time, Regular position. In addition to the regular vacancy, we also have an Extra-Help vacancy on site. Experience with psychiatric discharge planning is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will be:

• An experienced social worker with the ability to plan and execute complex treatment plans in a community- or acute care hospital-based setting.
• Experienced with Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), as well as other mental health community programs.
• Knowledgeable of the systems of care related to older adults, mental health, substance abuse, developmental delay, pediatrics, primary care, palliative care, chronic illnesses, dialysis, conservatorship, and probation and parole.
• Able to work independently with little supervision and demonstrates a high degree of initiative.

• Knowledgeable about County benefit and entitlement programs, such as Medi-Cal and ACE.
• Experienced and comfortable working with the following populations: multi-cultural, homeless, chronic diseases, end-of-life, mental health, domestic violence, parolees, and substance abuse disorders.
• Experienced working with a diverse population (race, ethnicity, age, ability, language, nationality, socioeconomic status, gender, religion, and sexual orientation).
• Able to accurately assess for signs of adult and child abuse and be a mandated reporter.
• Able to work in a politically charged environment under high degrees of stress and meet all deadlines.
• Able to develop effective and positive working relationships with community partners such as Aging and Adult Services, BHRS, and HPSM.
• An effective communicator to a broad range of stakeholders, including doctors, nurses, conservators, health advocates, families, and patients.
• Able to remain calm during crisis situations and perform emergency crisis counseling for families and patients as needed.
• Experienced documenting in an EMR.
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provide information and assistance to patients of SMMC.
• Conduct initial screenings for patients and develop appropriate discharge/service plans to address identified issues.
• Provide skilled casework services to patients and their families.
• Schedule and conduct family care conference meetings with patients, families, and treatment team for short-term and long-term placement needs.
• Coordinate referrals, both internal and external, as part of the social service plan.
• Follow up on referrals and document outcomes as well as completion of items.
• Provide crisis intervention to patients and their families.
• Assist patients in meeting a variety of emergency needs, including financial, housing, and emotional crises.
• Assist patients with applications and securing of private and public benefits.
• Gather and maintain current information on community resources and disseminate this information to patients and staff.
• Maintain case files utilizing the electronic medical record.
• Work with the hospital's multidisciplinary team of staff to identify and address barriers to care, participate in quality assurance efforts such as outcome analysis, chart reviews, and patient and staff satisfaction efforts, and assist with maintenance of Center policies.
• Document interactions with patients/clients in EMR.
• Be a member of the Palliative Care Team.
• Work in the emergency room or any other areas in the hospital that social workers cover.

Qualifications

Education:

• Satisfactory completion of 36 semester units of Social Welfare and/or appropriate behavioral science courses.

Experience:

• Three years' experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker II or higher in San Mateo County.

Substitution: Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work and two years' experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker II or higher in San Mateo County.

Licensure/Certification :

• California class C driver license or equivalent.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time.
  • Develop and plan activities for preschool summer camp
  • Change diapers and support toilet training.

• Staff Management 
  • Train and supervise teaching staff.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staff to enhance their skills and performance.

• Parent Communication 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a responsive and professional manner.
  • Facilitate open communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, and staff to promote a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Send emails to parents with child and class updates.
  • Manage Village Park Instagram

• Administrative Duties 
  • Prepare monthly newsletter.
  • Manage Village Park Preschool Instagram.
  • Complete assigned paperwork, including timecards and incident reports.

• Safety and Compliance 
  • ​​​​​​​Enforce policies and procedures related to child supervision, hygiene, emergency preparedness, and security measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and materials to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience and Education:

Tuesday/Thursday - 12:30pm-3:30pm (3 year olds)

Summer Camp (June-August)

Monday- Friday - 9am-12pm (3-4 year olds)

Village Park Preschool Program

Village Park Preschool is a play-based preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department. We offer 4 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), Playschool Villagers (4 year olds), and Kinder Club (4 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression. Children participate in arts/crafts, music, body movement, basic science, cognitive games, creative/dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness.

Definition: Preschool Teacher

The City of Burlingame is looking for an energetic, caring, creative, and responsible Preschool Teacher. Under direction of a Recreation Coordinator, the Preschool Teacher plans, schedules, and organizes preschool classes for the City’s Village Park Preschool program, assures policies and procedures are maintained, and performs related work as required.

Essential Duties

• Plan, organize, and implement activities that support early childhood education and socialization;
• Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time;
• Ensure proper safety precautions are observed;
• Maintain and care for supplies, equipment, and the facility;
• Report any supply requests and facility maintenance needs;
• Set up daily snack, change diapers and support toilet training;
• Help with preparation of monthly newsletter;
• Complete assigned paperwork, including time cards and incident and accident reports;
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff to disseminate information and build positive relationships;
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Must be a mature, dependable, responsible, and understanding person who is able to work cooperatively with children, staff and parents.

• Completion of 24 units of Early Childhood Education.
