Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate will desire working with youth or teens in a recreational environment. The candidate should be comfortable leading a group of youth or teens through arts & craft projects and field games. We are seeking individuals that communicate clearly and show excellent attendance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct various recreational activities, teach arts and crafts, assist in tournaments, or do related work as assigned; coach and supervise sports activities; assist with special events; assist in implementing emergency procedures; enforce park rules and regulations; follow city policies and procedures; and completes other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Working with youth and/or teens in organized, well-structured activities.
Knowledge of:
Emergency and safety procedures, supervision skills and age appropriate recreational activities.
Ability to:
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; understand and carry-out oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with other people contacted in the course of work; and interact successfully with youth and teens.
Requirements
Leader I: must be at least 16 years of age upon appointment, interested in recreation activities and desire to work with youth.
Leader II: education equivalent to graduation from high school, background in recreation, ECE, and other fields working with children.
Certificates:
Standard First Aid Certificate and Community Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate required. Training opportunities provided upon hiring.
Work Permit:
All appointees under age 18 will be required to have a work permit prior to beginning work.
Salary:
Activity Leader I: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Activity Leader II: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
(Five step scale based on experience and years of service)

All of these positions are temporary/part-time. Temporary employees work no more than 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.
The pay cycle is bi-weekly. With the exception of worker's compensation coverage and sick leave, no other benefits compensations are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.
