The Community Development Department is seeking enthusiastic and customer-service oriented candidates for the position of Permit Technician.

Under general supervision, the Permit Technician will perform specialized work associated with the processing of building permits and clerical work involving a substantial degree of judgment and initiative; and to do related work as required. This class is assigned to the Building Inspection Division of the Community Development Department.

Typical Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Receives and processes permit applications; 
• Review plans received for completeness and inclusion of required attachments; 
• Calculates permit fees; 
• Distributes plans for checking; 
• Prepares and issues applicable permits and notices in accordance with established procedures; 
• Creates and updates log books; 
• Inputs letters, reports, forms' data, and other material; 
• Maintains files and records; 
• Prepares reports including those of a statistical nature; 
• Provides information to interested parties; 
• Processes complex documents to insure completeness and accuracy; 
• Composes correspondence; 
• Prepares applications and forms; 
• Arranges meetings and schedules appointments; and 
• Operates a variety of office equipment, including personal computers.

Educations and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and three years of experience involving building permit applications and permit issuance. Completion of coursework in construction management or building inspection techniques is desirable. 

Knowledge of: 

• Building terms and codes; 
• Construction practices and materials; 
• Modern office management; 
• Word processing, spreadsheet and database software; 
• Basic mathematics; 
• Correct English usage and spelling; and 
• Records retention systems. 

Ability to: 

• Acquire a thorough knowledge of the policies, regulations and procedures of the Building Inspection Division; 
• Acquire a working knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations; 
• Understand, interpret and explain applicable codes and regulations; 
• Make arithmetical computations; 
• Deal with the public and fellow employees effectively; 
• Prepare statistical reports from available data; 
• Follow verbal and written instructions; 
• Perform specialized clerical and technical work requiring the use of discretion and independent judgment; 
• Input a variety of material on a computer keyboard at a rate that satisfies the needs of the Division. 

Possession of: Possession of a valid, appropriate California Driver's License may be required.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Building Inspector to provide building construction inspections. Depending on the applicant qualifications, the position will be filled at the appropriate level/salary of either a Building Inspector I or Building Inspector II.

This position is part of a 12-person building inspection team working on a variety of projects including single-family residential, commercial tenant improvements in existing and new buildings, new construction of large development projects of townhomes, multifamily, hotels, and Class A office buildings.

About the Highway Program Deputy Director

The Highway Program Deputy Director, reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Program Delivery, manages a diverse and talented team of seasoned staff who is well-versed on the delivery of capital projects related to the State highway system and other roadways in the county. This position is responsible for directing and leading collaboration on planning, design development (including technical analysis in support of preliminary engineering and final design), project-related right-of-way activities (in coordination with VTA Real Estate), construction management and close out, overall program/project management (including scopes, costs, schedules and quality of work), management of staff resources (both VTA and consultant), coordination with project stakeholders within VTA and beyond (e.g., local agencies, Caltrans, federal agencies, resources agencies, utilities, etc.), and community and other outreach (working with VTA public information and government affairs staff).
 

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern/Public Health Nurse in the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides the full range of public health nursing services including teaching, health assessment, and counseling services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers in connection with the prevention and control of diseases and adverse health conditions. Public Health Nurse Intern: is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN in Yuba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursuing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Incumbents who do not successfully complete the PHN certification as prescribed herein may be released from employment.

Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision.

The City of Santa Clara is recruiting for the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer for its Electric Utility, Silicon Valley Power (SVP).  Reporting to the Chief Electric Utility Officer (CEUO), the Electric Utility Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior management position in the City's unclassified service responsible for the oversight and direction for the fiscal, administrative, and managerial operations of the utility. The COO has supervisory and support responsibilities for the utility's divisions: Utility Operations, Customer Development and Project Management, Resource Planning and Customer Engagement, and Business Services. The COO will help guide SVP through the extraordinary period of growth related by doubling the existing capacity of the electrical system to meet new customer demands over the next 10 years. In addition to the expansion, the COO will work to ensure new renewable resources are added to meet the City's and State’s climate goals. The COO is responsible for forecasting service requirements and for planning, organizing and directing assigned resources of the electric utility division in order to meet those requirements. This includes developing and administering the department operations and capital improvement budgets. About the Position: 

Yuba County is currently accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector II/III. Currently we are hiring to fill at a Building Inspector III level within the Building Department and establish an eligibility list for the level II position.

The Building Inspector II position is flexibly staffed and is normally filled by advancement from the entry level Building Inspector I.  Incumbents which meet the minimum qualifications and demonstrate the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher performance level are promoted to the level II position. 

Building Inspector III is a stand alone position which performs complex, difficult and/or lead inspections and provides direction and technical expertise to staff.

Qualifications:   

Building Inspector II: Under limited supervision, this is the working level in this class series, fully qualified to independently perform diverse inspections. This is the journey level in the building inspection series

Building Inspector III: This position reports directly to the Supervising Building Official. Acts as a lead inspector providing direction and technical expertise to staff and performs related work as assigned. This is the advanced journey level in the building inspection series

Building Inspector II:

• Perform inspections, investigation, code interpretations, permit application intake, review and permit issuance, including record keeping and case management.  Also learn and apply zoning, land use, fire-safe and water quality related regulations.
• Inspect new and existing properties, and other building and construction elements for conformance to codes, regulations, plans, specifications and standards related for foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing and other structural and functional elements.
• Confer with and provide information to developers, engineers, architects, property owners and others regarding code requirements and alternative and County policies and procedures whenever possible, resolve complaints and problems, maintain close verbal and written contact regarding progress with the complainants.
• Lead inspections for non-residential commercial and industrial projects, new and existing.
• Perform above duties with limited supervision.
• Provide information to senior staff to prepare case violations for hearing; testify in court as required.

Building Inspector III (In addition to the above):

• Provide lead direction, training and work review to professional and technical staff; organize and assign work accordingly, set priorities and follow-up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work; provide input into performance evaluation.
• Perform complex and difficult in nature assignments; respond to highly sensitive, complete or technical complaints; validate the nature of the complaint and recommend solutions.
• Independently perform the full range of the Building Inspector I/II duties.
• Implement new or modified policies and procedures and train/develop other staff as required.
• Make presentations to groups and coordinate public meetings.

**Signing Bonus Qualification Criteria:

• First Installment of $2,500, the candidate must apply, qualify for and be hired (e.g. first time appointment) by CDSA.
• Second Installment of $2,500, the recently hired employee must successfully complete six months of County service (achieving a "meets standards" or above on the six-month performance evaluation).

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Registered Nurse in the Public Health Division within the Health and Human Services Department. Under general direction, the Registered Nurse promotes general health in the community through education and outreach; performs a range of nursing tasks such as specimen collection and processing; administering medication/injections, diagnostic skin tests and immunizations; completes appropriate paperwork such as logs, reports, and forms; coordinates the patient’s medical care with private physicians, public facilities and other health centers; reviews laboratory results; assists in monitoring quality assurance, infection control and safety activities; participates in COVID-19 response activities including testing and other activities; administration of general nursing care, including general health screenings; provision of quality nursing care to both adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings in conjunction with or under the direction of the Public Health Officer.
