Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill three full time and multiple Part Time/ Extra Help positions in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.
• Prunes trees and other vegetation as needed.
• Directs and controls traffic around work sites.
• Operates semi-trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, boom truck, front loader, rollers, snow plow, etc.; operates a compressor, sand blasters, jack hammer, chipper machine, welding equipment, cutting torch, compaction tools, weed eater, blower, and other hand and power tools.

I-   $18.29 - $22.24 Per Hour
II-  $19.70 - $23.94 Per Hour
III- $20.72 - $25.19 Per Hour

DEFINITION:
Under general administrative direction of the City Manager, plans, directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Public Works Department including streets, utilities, water treatment and wastewater treatment, ensures all resources within each division are properly allocated and managed; provides long range planning for department programs, projects, and needs; coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
The Director of Public Works is considered a Department Director with responsibility for directing the activities of a Department within the City. Positions at this class level serve as a member of the City's senior management team and provide advice and counsel to the City Manager regarding strategic policy and problem solving issues relating to the assigned Department and the City overall. The incumbent is responsible for accomplishing the City's goals and objectives related to assigned program areas.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assumes full management responsibility for all Public Works Department services and activities including streets, utilities, water treatment, wastewater treatment.
• Manages the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, and priorities for each assigned service area; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
• Establishes, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; allocates resources accordingly.
• Assesses and monitors workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement; directs and implements changes.
• Plans, directs, and coordinates, through subordinate level staff, the Public Works Department's work plan; assigns projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures; meets with key staff to identify and resolve problems.
•  Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
• Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the Public Works Department budget; approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; approves expenditures and implements budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary.
• Directs the activities and operations of the City's utilities, streets, and equipment maintenance programs; ensures maintenance activities are completed on time and within budget.
• Provides staff assistance to the City Manager; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
• Represents the Public Works Department to other departments, elected officials, and outside agencies including community organizations; develops community resources; coordinates assigned activities with those of other departments and outside agencies and organizations.
• Explains, justifies, and defends department programs, policies, and activities; negotiates and resolves sensitive and controversial issues.
• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
• Performs related duties as required

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting to establish an employment list for the classification of Social Worker II. Under general supervision, incumbents perform moderately complex social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; conducting field visits; identifying, assessing and arranging alternative solutions to clients’ needs and obstacles; carry a moderately complex caseload; prepare and monitor plans; prepare court reports, depending on area of assignment; and perform related work as assigned. The work may be related to a specific program area or to more general social service benefit provision. Social Worker II is the journey-level in the social work series. This position reports directly to a Social Worker Supervisor II or other higher-level supervisor or manager.

Example of Duties:

• Interview and counsel a diverse population of clients; isolate barriers to self-sufficiency; and evaluate need for services and/or make appropriate referrals to training, public assistance and social services programs.
• Perform case management of moderately complex cases.
• Conduct field/home visits, assessments, and reassessments as required to monitor and investigate progress and compliance
• Prepare and review court pleadings, depending on area of assignment.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for the position of Social Worker III/III Master’s Level in the Child and Adult Protective Services Division of the Health & Human Services Department in an effort to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Under general supervision, incumbents are fully competent to independently perform the most complex and sensitive social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; identify, access and document abuse and neglect cases; provide counseling and support services to children and parents; refer clients to services; prepare detailed, complex court documents and testify in court as required; and perform related work as assigned. The Crossing Guard position is a temporary position, approximately five hours per day, two (2) hours in the morning and three (2) hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday.  Crossing Guards work a school year (September through June).  Applicants must be able to work outdoors, have reliable transportation or ability to report to assignment consistently.

Crossing Guards work under the general direction of the Parking Operations Lead Community Service Officer with the Seal Beach Police Department.  Based on the needs of the City, a flexible schedule may be assigned for either a morning or afternoon shift or a combination thereof, or for specific week days, based on the availability of the Crossing Guards and at the discretion of the Police Services Manager.

ABOUT POSITION:

This position is a part-time, non-benefited position. Work hours may vary, and schedules can be up to 29 hours per week as needed. There are no guaranteed minimum number of hours per week. Hours of operation of the Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 9:30 pm and Saturday/Sunday from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Individual will work primarily at the City’s Seal Beach Tennis & Pickleball Center performing duties including, but not limited to, greeting and supervising patrons, handling of payments inside the Pro Shop, enforcing rules and regulations of the facility, opening/closing the facility, removing trash, restocking supplies, and general court maintenance, including court washing, locker room cleaning, and overall security of the facility.

This position will also work periodically as staff for facility rentals at the City’s community centers for various functions such as wedding receptions, baby showers, and birthday parties. This position may also help assist with scorekeeping for Adult Sports programs, including basketball and softball.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Ability to: Communicate effectively (both written and verbally); make good decisions; push, pull, drag, lift or carry equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs., lean, stoop, twist, bend and kneel in performance of job duties. 

Experience & Training: One year experience working for Parks and Recreation Departments or similar experience and general knowledge of tennis and sports is desired.
