Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. Additionally, the position requires good written communication skills, public relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and abilities. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

Essential Job Functions

(May include, but are not limited to, the following):

• Design and produce effective collateral for digital and print to promote programs, events and services
• Design and produce graphics materials using computer-based and traditional methods to meet organizational standards and deadlines
• Produce highly creative work within an established organizational style
• Edit electronic newsletter articles and blurbs, program descriptions for activity guide/fliers/online descriptions and social media posts
• Follow all City standards related to branding and writing (Associated Press style), or as otherwise directed, and meet deadlines
• Develop written content and edit for brochures, reports, logos and other marketing and presentation materials
• Consult with City staff and provide technical coaching and training to colleagues
• Participate in the planning, development and production of written and graphics materials
• Assist staff in the development of presentations using PowerPoint and other presentation software
• Create, develop and monitor posts and comments for social media accounts
• Represent the division at community outreach events (such as fairs, special events, etc.) by promoting community services programs and services
• Perform other duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, graphic arts or a closely related field; AND
• One year of related work experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of:

• Computer programs utilized in the production of marketing collateral; specifically, the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Dynamics of development of social media sites
• Basic principles of graphic design
• The Associated Press writing style

Ability to:

• Follow general instructions, directions and procedures;
• Accomplish assigned work and administrative tasks working independently or with a minimum of supervision;
• Process information and data in a relevant manner to reach reasonable conclusions and make practical decisions;

THE POSITION: 

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Community Services Coordinator I/II position to plan, organize, and direct services and programs within the Community Services Department for our senior population, volunteer programs and city-wide special events. Our senior programs provide opportunities for adults 50 years of age and older, to engage in active and healthy programming. The Church Lane Senior Center hosts a congregate lunch program, numerous senior focused special events, weekday door-to-door transportation service (managed by a different full-time coordinator) and drop- in programs and classes. The city hosts 10-12 city-wide special events each year that include family dances, spring egg hunt, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Movies Under the Stars, 4th of July Multi-Cultural celebration, Halloween, Veterans Day and a Winter Wonderland Festival. The Community Services Department relies heavily on volunteers for both special events and senior programs and wants to expand the volunteer recruitment and training program.

The City of Union City is currently seeking ONE highly motivated individual for the position of Transit Planner Assistant or Transit Planner Associate.

DEFINITION:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

Under close supervision, the Assistant Transit Planner is responsible for providing entry level support to assist in the development, administration and analysis of the City’s public transit programs.

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSOCIATE

Under general supervision, the Associate Transit Planner is responsible for performing paraprofessional work to assist in the development, administration and analysis of the City’s public transit programs.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSISTANT

This is the entry-level class in the Transit Planner series and will receive direction and guidance from the Transit Manager. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves assisting in analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City. The Transit Planner Assistant has basic knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning. An incumbent may advance to the higher levels after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

TRANSIT PLANNER ASSOCIATE

This is an experienced-level class within the Transit Planner series and will receive general direction from the Transit Manager. Work given to an incumbent in this class involves general analysis and development of transit programs and services, research of new trends in public transit and comparing how Union City provides service delivery, and participation in coordination events or meetings on behalf of Union City resulting in recommendations based on the incumbent’s work. The Transit Planner Associate has general knowledge of the operating procedures and policies of transit and/or transportation planning.

• Assist in/Evaluates* the planning, operations and activities of the City’s public transit programs (fixed route, paratransit, and microtransit).
• Assist in/Coordinates* a variety of studies for the preparation, analysis, or evaluation of reports and grant requests.
• Assist in/Prepares* the development of regularly occurring required plans or programs such as the Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP), Title VI and Language Assistance Plan (LAP), Transit Asset Management (TAM) Plan, and Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
• Assist in/Coordinates* the preparation of the scope of work (RFP’s, IFB’s, etc.) and other contract management related tasks such as monitoring and closeout of service and maintenance contracts, professional services, vehicle procurements, etc.

About the Highway Program Deputy Director

The Highway Program Deputy Director, reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Program Delivery, manages a diverse and talented team of seasoned staff who is well-versed on the delivery of capital projects related to the State highway system and other roadways in the county. This position is responsible for directing and leading collaboration on planning, design development (including technical analysis in support of preliminary engineering and final design), project-related right-of-way activities (in coordination with VTA Real Estate), construction management and close out, overall program/project management (including scopes, costs, schedules and quality of work), management of staff resources (both VTA and consultant), coordination with project stakeholders within VTA and beyond (e.g., local agencies, Caltrans, federal agencies, resources agencies, utilities, etc.), and community and other outreach (working with VTA public information and government affairs staff).

LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Summer Youth Volunteer Program.  Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree.  Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, and community services will be given preference.  Interested candidates should complete an application online. Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

• Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. 

• Oversee volunteer schedule. 

• Track volunteer hours logging. 

• Create program completion documents. 

• Assist with planning end of summer recognition event. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report. 

• Complete summer training and check-in reports. 

• Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

• Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins. 

What learning will occur for the intern? 

• Experience managing volunteers. 

• Learn how summer programs work/run in a special district.  

• Gain familiarity with volunteer management software. 

• Graphic design creating infographics and end-of-summer reports. 

• Communication opportunities both with program staff and volunteers. 

Timing 

June-August 9th.  Interns may start and end later but need to be present for the core Sessions slated for the entire month of June, July and through August 9th.  

Work hours will be Monday – Friday, 25-30 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment.  The pay rate will be $20 per hour.  All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Associate Transportation Engineer in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! 

When assigned to development review, you will have the opportunity to review residential, commercial, industrial and public works project plans, traffic impact reports, and other development and design related documents for compliance with City of Berkeley standards and regulations including all applicable local, state, and federal codes and guidelines; evaluate and recommend mitigation measures to address adverse impacts of development projects; review plan checks for small developments; and review traffic control plans for construction projects.

When assigned to capital projects designs and traffic signal systems, you will have the opportunity to manage capital improvement projects including development of conceptual design options, detailed engineering design, bid, and construction administration; prepare council reports, conduct presentations, and respond to project-related public inquiries; design/review traffic engineering design elements for Complete Streets Projects and traffic calming projects; work with project development team to analyze street and road use for all road users focusing on safety and efficiency of transportation networks; and work with traffic signal maintenance team to maintain and upgrade city’s traffic signal system, including using Synchro traffic signal timing software. An ideal candidate in this role is proficient in scope, schedule, and cost management with managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously as well as working knowledge of complete streets design principles, traffic calming and traffic control elements, civil engineering, roadway design, and Citywide plans including Bike Plan and Pedestrian Plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Assistant Transportation Engineer class. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year for year basis.

Other requirements include possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or a professional Civil Engineer. A CA Registration as a Traffic Engineer is preferred. Candidates must also possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in Transportation Engineering/Planning or a related field.
