The Public Works Department is responsible for delivering capital improvement projects for a wide variety of City facilities and infrastructure, maintaining City facilities and fleet assets, facilitating and regulating development activities, and providing animal care and services. The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Chief of Surveys to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

     * Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.

     * Reviews, approves, or examines land surveying documents (maps, plats, reports, descriptions, etc.) under supervision of the Land Surveyor.

     * Manages surveying staff including supervision, hiring, training and performance evaluations.

     * Plans, coordinates, and schedules all office surveying activities.

     * Sets and maintains standard practices for office surveying activities and quality control.

     * Consults with public and private engineers, inspectors, and contractors relative to requested work and coordinates any necessary activities.

     * Communicates with clients and the public and resolves issues that arise during field surveys.

     * Performs map and document research for field and office survey projects.

     * Interprets construction documents for construction surveys.

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The San José Police Department is dedicated to providing public safety through community partnerships and 21st Century Policing practices, ensuring equity for all. The Department is committed to treating all of San Jose's diverse community members with dignity, fairness, and respect, while protecting their rights and providing equal protection under the law.The San Jose Police Department is seeking a Division Manager for the Operations Support Services Division (OSSD) of the department. OSSD is comprised of approximately 89 employees, with a budget of approximately $9.4 million dollars. The OSSD Division Manager is an essential position within the Police Department and reports directly to the Captain of Bureau of Administration (BOA).

BOA and the OSSD operate and maintain critical systems in support of public safety on a 24/7 basis. The primary purpose of OSSD is to manage and maintain local, state and federal databases in order to assist in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of criminal offenders and to ensure officer and public safety. The Division is divided into five units, which include: Vehicle Records Unit, Report Processing Unit, Warrants Unit, Services & Communications Unit, and Fingerprints.

     * The Vehicle Records Unit processes all reports and calls related to stolen, recovered, impounded, private property towed, and repossessed vehicles. The Unit enters and updates data in all local, state, and national databases. Duties include coordinating with investigative units on the release of vehicles held for investigation or as evidence of crime.

     * The Report Processing Unit processes all incoming reports and provides a variety of services to the public, officers, and other government and law enforcement agencies.

     * The Warrants Unit processes all warrants. Duties include 24/7 "hit confirmation" for officers and other agencies checking the status of warrants, sending warrant abstracts to arresting agencies, managing "due diligence" documentation, purging expired warrants, updating local, state, and national databases, and providing services to members of the public who "self-surrender". This Unit is also responsible for processing traffic citations.

     * The Services & Communications Unit provides a variety of services to officers, other agencies and the members of the public. Services include data retrieval, requests for copies of reports, background requests and Clearance Letters for Visa & Immigration purposes. The Unit also processes subpoenas for records and Public Records requests. Duties include entries and updates of firearms and property in all local, state and national databases.

     * The Fingerprint Unit processes all "non-custodial" bookings and registrants. This Unit is also responsible for managing local, state, and national databases for all criminal citations.

This position will oversee OSSD and related issues in support of the Police Department's mission. The OSSD Division Manager will work closely with the Communications and Systems Development Division Managers and must possess strong leadership, decision-making, and collaborative skills. The Division Manager will take a critical role in developing a cohesive work environment and change management for the future.

The Division Manager will set division policy related to OSSD protocol and will ensure workforce productivity through effective interpersonal skills and adherence to instituted procedures. The Division Manager will supervise shift managers, assign and prioritize staff work, evaluate the performance of mid-level managers, act as the Custodian of Record for most records retained in the department, coordinate the release of Public Records Acts requests, and monitor the evaluation process for all of the Division employees.

The Division Manager will be responsible for preparing, administering and managing the Division budget. This will include drafting purchasing documents and maintenance of contracts. This will be accomplished by negotiating contracts, scheduling vendors and requesting services. The Division Manager will be responsible for holding contractors accountable in an expeditious and efficient manner. Additionally, the Division manager will be responsible for authorizing expenditures in compliance with City protocols and that the division budget is kept within the appropriate authorizations.

The Division Manager will oversee the management of all aspects of policy related to the Division's operation. This includes management of the Division's access to local, regional, state and nationwide databases such as the Records Management System (RMS), California Law Enforcement Telecommunications (CLETS), Sheriff's Law Enforcement Telecommunications (SLETS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Criminal Justice Information Control (CJIC) systems.

The Division Manager will prepare and present Department reports for Senior Management and City Council. This will include preparing Annual Performance Plans and Quarterly Program Management Reports that encompass measures, accomplishments and needs of the Division.

The salary range for this classification is $131,187 to $207,658 annually. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

The essential functions of this position are as follows:

- A history of effectively managing staff and working in an environment in which senior department managers regularly balance competing expectations from groups with diverse points of views and interests.

-Skill in creating new approaches to a variety of unprecedented and problematic situations.

-Ability to manage a complex operation, communicate well with an experienced staff, including the oversight of a police support services operation for both day-to-day operations as well as future development.

-Politically astute and able to establish trust with other City departments, as well as outside public and private agencies.

-Understand and communicate information about complex systems to individuals with varying levels of experience.

-Knowledge of modern law enforcement systems, such as: California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (CLETS), Automated Field Reporting (AFR)/Records Management Systems (RMS) and Law Enforcement information sharing systems, etc..

- Reviews and interprets Federal, State, and local mandates and departmental policies and procedures. Including participating in both DOJ and FBI audits -As the Custodian of Record appear in court. 

-Effective communication skills and approachability with staff at all levels.

-Commitment to excellence and customer service.

-Ability to clearly express ideas, verbally and in written form.

-The division operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year including holidays. As such, the Division Manager must be available via telephone at all times. This position will require the employee to work 5 days a week and may be scheduled to work evenings, nights and/or weekends.

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Staff Specialist I/II in the Community Engagement Office. This is an open recruitment for two (2) full-time, limited-term contract positions. Both positions are for a 3-year term.
 
This is a Limited Term Contract Employee (LTCE) Position.  LTCE positions are funded by grants or other designated funds which are not part of the Air District’s ongoing general fund budget.  LTCE positions are subject to individual employment contracts and are limited to the duration of their funding source.  Regular employees have the right to apply for an LTCE position.   However, LTCE positions are not subject to the terms of the Employee Association MOU, and LTCE employees serve on an at-will basis.  
 
About You in the Position
Are you interested in reducing air pollution and improving health outcomes in the most impacted and overburdened communities in the Bay Area? Are you motivated to develop and implement plans, projects and policies that address air pollution injustices and inequities?
 
The Assembly Bill 617 Staff Specialist I/II will support outreach, engagement and partnerships with communities overburdened by air pollution to advance solutions towards equity and environmental justice. One position will support two teams that are working to co-develop local Community Emissions Reduction Plans with environmental justice communities in East Oakland and Bayview Hunters Point/ Southeastern San Francisco as part of the Air District’s Community Health Protection Program (Assembly Bill 617). Another position will support the Richmond/ North Richmond/ San Pablo team that is working towards implementation phase of the Community Emissions Reduction Plan. The Staff Specialist will work with teams to implement outreach and engagement activities to support monthly Community Steering Meetings, including:

• Creating agendas and taking detailed notes for internal planning meetings and external meetings with community-based organizations, Co-Chairs, Co-Lead partners on AB 617 community projects.
• Coordinating and facilitating meetings with community members. 
• Creating and reviewing template PowerPoint presentations and agendas for conformance with guidelines and policies.
• Coordinating or working with a consultant on event planning and logistics for virtual, hybrid and in-person monthly Community Steering Committee meetings and other sub-committee meetings.
• Effectively communicating, in writing and orally, to wide variety of audiences, including government staff, community residents, businesses and Board members.
• Actively interpreting complex and technical information to community members. 
• Drafting contract Scopes of Work, participating in bid processes, reviewing and analyzing invoices received from consultants and cross referencing with Scope of Work, provides status of invoice payments, monitoring contract budget and confirmation of payments. 
• Conducting routine outreach and communication on behalf of the Air District to community members.

 
Assembly Bill 617
Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (C. Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017) was signed into law alongside Assembly Bill 398 which extended California’s cap-and-trade program for greenhouse gas emissions. AB 617 addresses environmental justice concerns regarding the extension of the cap-and-trade program by requiring the California Air Resources Board, with input from community groups, air districts and others, to select locations around the state to prepare community-led plans to reduce emissions of toxic air contaminants and criteria pollutants. Communities can also be selected to prepare community-led monitoring plans. The primary requirement for community selection is a demonstrated high cumulative exposure burden to air pollution and associated health disparities. In the Bay Area, and around the state, these communities are often low-income communities of color.
 
In 2017, West Oakland and Richmond were selected as the first communities to participate in the AB 617 program. Since then, East Oakland and Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco communities have been added to the program. The Air District works closely with these communities to both develop and implement emission reduction and monitoring plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is completion of 60 college semester units. Previous volunteer or paid experience in a law enforcement support area is desirable.
 
Other requirements include:

• Must be free from any disqualifications for employment, including felony convictions.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.

EXAM PROCESS

Applicants may waive the written exam only by submitting a California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) T-score of 48 points or higher. We will accept California POST T-scores from other agencies provided the test was taken no more than one year prior to the date of application. Applicants must submit, on agency letterhead, a letter that states that the individual has taken the California PELLETB written exam. The letter must contain the total T-score and the date of the test. For information on where the PELLETB test is offered, please visit www.theacademy.ca.gov/tests.

Applicants may waive the performance exam only by submitting a California POST physical agility certificate, known as the Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB), with a score of 325 or higher.  The 1.5-mile run is not a requirement.  The test should not be dated no more than one year prior to the date of application.

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Community Health Worker Specialist! In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform paraprofessional duties related to preventive and supportive health care services. The current vacant position is in disease investigation, where you will assist in the control of disease outbreaks by conducting interviews with persons diagnosed with reportable diseases, their contacts, and healthcare providers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of paraprofessional experience in a public health or related setting, supplemented by formal or approved in-service training, which has provided additional expertise and demonstrated proficiency in an area of specialization such as training, examination, screening, counseling, or outreach.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. San Mateo Medical Center is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist II.  
Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. They will also possess a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additionally, the incumbent will have experience in working with adults, skilled nursing, and acute care.  Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. Ability to work weekends and/or holiday coverage when necessary is strongly preferred.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Under medical direction, plan and perform occupational therapy for a variety of patients.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment to patients.
• Provide therapeutic activities to promote independence in daily living activities.
• Plan, organize and participate in occupational therapy activities.
• Design and fabricate splints.
• Instruct patients in the use of therapeutic tools and equipment.
• Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of the patient's response to treatment in accordance with hospital standards.
• Participate in discharge planning and refer parents to community services.
• Determine need for department and patient-related supplies and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas.
• May participate as clinical preceptor in a university affiliated occupational therapy student program.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and methods of occupational therapy, as applicable to all types of cases found in a general hospital providing acute care or in a rehabilitative center.
• Physical and psychological problems of physically disabled, aged, gero-psychiatric and chronically ill patients.
• Principles of splint design and fabrication.
• Use and care of therapeutic tools and equipment commonly used in occupational therapy.
• Professional ethics and the fundamental laws of practice for occupational therapy.

• Administer and document occupational therapy treatments.
• Assess patient needs, analyze situations accurately and implement an effective plan of action.
• Adapt equipment to patient needs.
• Integrate occupational therapy services with other medical and institutional programs.
• Develop new programs in response to patient/department need.
• Explain and teach occupational therapy activities to patients, health care professionals and other interested persons.
• Exercise tact and good judgment in dealing with patients, staff and the public.
• Prepare reports and keep records of case histories.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Act as a consultant/trainer for education and other staff.
• Provide suitable transportation between work sites.
• Lift or assist with lifting patients and equipment.
