The City of Dixon is accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time position of Transit Driver/Dispatcher and to establish an eligibility list for future use.  

This position drives a Readi-Ride General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) on a demand responsive curb-to-curb transit system and assist patrons boarding and leaving the bus, especially the elderly, disabled, and school age children. May also assist in collecting information relating to the operation of the system; receive ride requests and organize the vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs; and, will work closely with the drivers and Transit Supervisor to ensure coordinated efforts.

Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in an interview process (weighted 100%). The Dixon Fire Department is opening their first Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position for someone to attend the Fire Academy in August 2024. The "Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit" is an entry-level classification designed for recruits with a current paramedic license to gain firefighting, fire rescue, and fire prevention skills and training necessary through an accredited Fire Academy. Training may include firefighting techniques and procedures; emergency medical training; technical rescue and hazardous materials training.

ABOUT THE POSITION

You will lead and participate in the successful preparation and implementation of community-scale air quality plans in partnership with Air District staff, community members and partner organizations, and work to support communities and local governments determine how to best improve air quality and reduce health disparities while centering equity and addressing environmental justice. To be successful in this role, you must be a strong team player, have strong communication and analytical skills and be able to work with people of varied backgrounds and perspectives, including low-income communities of color and communities overburdened by air pollution. You will leverage your knowledge of land use, transportation, air quality, equity and environmental justice to conduct research, analyze issues, prepare planning documents, and craft recommendations to support decision making. You will also interface with local, regional, and state agencies in developing and implementing these community-scale air quality plans.
 
Assembly Bill 617
Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (C. Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017) was signed into law alongside Assembly Bill 398 which extended California’s cap-and-trade program for greenhouse gas emissions. AB 617 addresses environmental justice concerns regarding the extension of the cap-and-trade program by requiring the California Air Resources Board, with input from community groups, air districts and others, to select locations around the state to prepare community-led plans to reduce emissions of toxic air contaminants and criteria pollutants. Communities can also be selected to prepare community-led monitoring plans. The primary requirement for community selection is a demonstrated high cumulative exposure burden to air pollution and associated health disparities. In the Bay Area, and around the state, these communities are often low-income communities of color.
 
In 2017, West Oakland and Richmond were selected as the first communities to participate in the AB 617 program. Since then, East Oakland and Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco communities have been added to the program. The Air District works closely with these communities to both develop and implement emission reduction and monitoring plans.
 
About You in the Position – Climate Protection Section (EPA CPRG Role)

You will make use of your knowledge of how local governments operate to address planning and policy issues. Your ability to review and assess policies and strategic approaches will support your work in developing potential GHG mitigation strategies and measures in a variety of economic sectors.

EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant
As part of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the US EPA launched the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program, providing $250 million nationwide to states and metropolitan regions to develop regional greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction plans, and $4.3 billion in nationally competitive grants to implement measures in those plans. The Air District has received $1 million from this EPA program to lead an eight-county climate action planning process. This planning effort identifies GHG mitigation measures across economic sectors to achieve aggressive GHG reduction goals and benefit frontline communities.

DEFINITION
Under direction, provides lead direction to environmental planning staff and conducts complex long-range planning for land use and environmental assessments; performs related work as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the advanced lead level in the professional planning series. Incumbents provide lead direction to environmental planners and perform highly specialized and difficult planning functions. Incumbents are assigned to design and implement programs that require considerable professional knowledge and the use of independent judgement. This class is distinguished from Principal Environmental Planner in that the latter has responsibility for creating projects and new programs, and handling the most difficult, sensitive, novel or critical projects.

Analyzes issues, prepares reports and recommendations relative to land use, regional development and related issues; provides input into planned development's impact on air quality.

Education & Experience

Environmental Planner I is the entry level class of this specialized professional planning series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents perform a wide range of professional planning duties while learning the more skilled and complex tasks associated with environmental planning and assessment. As experience is gained, duties become more diversified and are performed under more general supervision. This class is alternately staffed with Environmental Planner II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications of the higher-level class.
 
Environmental Planner II is the journey level class in this specialized series, fully competent to perform a wide range of professional planning duties associated with air quality and environmental planning. This class is distinguished from Senior Environmental Planner in that the latter provides lead direction as well as performs more complex and specialized work requiring considerable professional knowledge and the use of significant independent judgment and may provide lead direction for defined tasks.

Education & Experience

Environmental Planner I: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a graduate degree in regional, urban or environmental planning or a closely related field and one year of professional planning experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the graduate degree.
 
Environmental Planner II: In addition to the above, one year of professional environmental review and planning experience.
 
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with data collection and documentation, advanced excel skills or database management, and ArcGIS or other mapping platforms.

The Analyst I/II position in the Bureau of EMS & Training (BET) reports directly to the EMS Division Battalion Chief . About the Position:  This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.

The Accounting Technician performs a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical duties related to payroll and other accounting support duties. Top candidates have experience working with financial systems, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and information systems.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• accounts receivable/payable,
• review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate and confidential accounting and payroll records,
• verify, post, and record a variety of financial transactions; prepare and maintain databases,
• maintain a variety of ledgers, registers, and journals according to established accounting policies and procedures; reconcile transactions and account statements; record changes and resolve differences; maintain the accuracy of accounting and financial records,
• report generation,
• produce journal entries to post payments to the general ledger,
• accurately prepare employee and vendor payments for retirement and other benefits; submits reportable compensation to CalPERS and process payments; prepare Federal and State tax reports.
