The Transportation Supervisor is an important part of the City's transit team that provide services including the Auburn Loop fixed route and Auburn OnDemand ride share programs.

Under direction of the Public Works Director, Transit Manager or designee, the incumbent coordinates, supervises, assigns, reviews and participates in the work of staff responsible for Auburn Transit's daily operations; schedule drivers to ensure routes are completed in a safe and timely manner; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures including providing necessary training and ensuring re-certification of drivers as required; and operates a bus as necessary to cover shifts.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for Auburn Transit daily operations; perform regular road supervision, vehicle trial checks, and daily vehicle inspection monitoring.
• Establish schedules and methods for providing Auburn Transit services; schedule drivers to ensure routes are completed in a safe and timely manner; coordinate any changes to facilitate coverage for all shifts.
• Coordinates transportation needs for local schools and special events; prepares calendar of trips or special events to be incorporated into the bus timetable; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
• Provide an increasing level of customer service and satisfaction by providing service that is flexible, dependable, and consistent.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
• Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
• Participate in the selection of Bus Drivers; provide or coordinate staff training; issue manuals, bulletins and technical guides to improve services and operational activities; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
• Coordinate training for driver certification and maintenance of certification; document all training in the driver training records; act as a liaison with CHP and DMV regarding certification and training record documentation.
• Provide staff assistance to the Transit Manager; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present reports of operations and activities and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
• Coordinate maintenance for buses and allocate buses to be used on routes.
• Respond to the scene of transit vehicle accidents and passenger incidents; provide on the scene assistance to drivers and passengers.
• Investigate accidents and incidents; make prompt and accurate reports; review investigation with transit drivers and determine accident preventability and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Act as Safety Liaison with various agencies including police and emergency authorities as necessary.
• Provide regular informational and safety meetings.
• Perform a full range of customer relations; answer questions from the public relating to bus routes and schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs; issue bus passes.
• Work with local businesses to promote the use of Auburn Transit and fulfill the optimal service hours of the route.
• Operate a bus as necessary to cover shifts.
• Perform related duties as required.

The incumbent will be a vital member of our team! With a focus on capital improvement projects, our Associate Engineer performs a variety of professional-level engineering work including development, CIP and other City plans regarding stormwater management, streets, transportation and public buildings.

The incumbent will work under general direction of the Public Works Director and may serve as a project manager on assigned projects. This position reviews plans, designs and specs of public works projects and recommends changes for compliance; as well as responds to questions and inquiries from the general public, developers, contractors, engineering professionals and City staff regarding engineering and development projects.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The City of Auburn is hiring to fill a part-time, Retired Annuitant Bus Driver I/II position.  Under general supervision, this position operates a bus over designated routes to transport passengers; maintains established schedule; and ensures passenger safety.

The Retired Annuitant position is limited to work no more than 960 hours per fiscal year.  Placement in the class series is dependent upon qualifications.  The salary range for each level is below:

• Bus Driver I:  $45,864 - $58,552
• Bus Driver II:  $48,152 - $61,484

Senior Civil & Environmental Engineer
Salary Range: $95,900/yr. - $189,900/yr. (Budgeted salary range $95,900/yr. - $142,900/yr.)

Use advanced engineering concepts and organizational objectives to provide leadership and support focused on engineering, project management, and compliance for the Facilities Management: Utilities department. Work with individual Utilities system managers to evaluate system performance and provide technical leadership for deferred maintenance and capital improvement projects. Conduct master planning for future capacity needs. Conduct system assessments to improve the design of physical plant systems. Lead civil system compliance efforts. Regularly work on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum License/Certification:

• Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.

Minimum Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Civil or Environmental.
• Over ten years of experience in engineering design, master planning, plan review, project administration and facility operation in storm, water, water reuse, sanitary sewer and solid waste systems.
• Extensive experience with interpreting regulations, permitting, and regulatory compliance for water, wastewater, and solid waste operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:  

• Experience with Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budgeting and with developing sewer, water and treatment plant master plan documents and condition assessments.
• Experience with water and wastewater system maintenance; understanding of Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) principles.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

• Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with excellent customer service skills; ability to readily assess complex challenges and barriers and recommend effective resolutions.
• Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Assistant Engineer is the entry level class in the professional civil engineering series and is responsible for performing the professional engineering work not requiring registration as a Civil Engineer. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Associate Civil Engineer in that the latter performs the more complex and difficult assignments within the division.

The Associate Engineer is the journey level class in the professional civil engineering series and is responsible for performing the more complex design and construction of capital improvement projects and for reviewing private development projects for design conformance and accuracy. Incumbents perform complex professional engineering assignments requiring considerable knowledge of various aspects of civil engineering including land development, planning, design standards and regulations, construction and maintenance. The Senior Civil Engineer is an advanced journey level registered professional engineer class and exercises full responsibility for planning and organizing a variety of assigned engineering projects and directing the work of assigned staff. Incumbents perform complex professional engineering and program management assignments demanding considerable knowledge of various aspects of engineering and related program requirements including land development, planning, design standards and regulations, construction and maintenance. This classification is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the level of accountability expected in the performance of the most complex and difficult assignments, and the performance of program management responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

This position receives direction from the Engineering Manager, and may receive direction from a Senior Engineer, and the City Engineer.  Associate and Senior Engineers may exercise direct supervision over professional and technical support staff and staff augmentation consultants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assistant Engineer

• Performs professional engineering work not requiring registration as a Civil Engineer.
• On a continuous basis, know and understand all aspects of the job.

• Manages, develops and coordinates assigned program activities such as industrial waste ordinance management, grease trap enforcement, and other City Municipal Code-related activities, including policy development, community education, regional and state program coordination and required infrastructure modifications; recommend program activity budgets.
• Monitors work activities to ensure safe work practices, work quality and accuracy; ensures compliance to applicable rules, policies and procedures; participates in the development of policies and procedures; recommends programs, projects and work assignments to higher level engineering personnel.
• Assists in the coordination of capital improvement projects with contractors, utility companies and other agencies; administers construction contracts; plans, coordinates, prioritizes, monitors and participates in the work of staff responsible for reviewing design conformance and accuracy of public and private development projects.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, crawling and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties.  The position also requires repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires both near and far vision in reading written reports and work related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service.  Additionally, the incumbent in this position works outdoors in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold.  The position entails working in situations that may expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock or mechanical hazards.  The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to drive motorized vehicles. The Senior Manager, Quantitative Analysis and Modeling is responsible for organizing, assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of personnel engaged in professional duties related to analysis and modeling, structured product development, portfolio risk management, and integrated resource planning. Duties include:

• Planning, prioritizing, reviewing and participating in the performance of professional analysis and modeling of risk and value around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including structured products, rate analysis and development, and hedging strategies.
• Developing methods and schedules to accomplish assignments, ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Developing pricing and calibration models for a variety of products.

Deputy Fire Marshal
Salary Range: $6,750.00 to $13,383.33 Monthly
 

This position will report directly to the Fire Marshal. The Deputy Fire Marshal is an advanced level position. Duties include, but are not limited to reading, interpreting, and enforcing all State statutes and regulations under the authority of the State Fire Marshal (SFM), and all standards as adopted by SFM as well as UCDH policies. This position will act as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas. This position will regularly lead projects of critical importance to the organization; these projects carry substantial consequences of success or failure. May direct programs with organizational-wide impacts that include formulating strategies and administrating policies, policies, processes, and resources. In this position, the individual will perform detailed inspections of buildings under the authority of the UCDH Fire Marshal’s Office. Provide fire and life safety education to occupants. Analyze hazardous materials and functional use of space during construction plan review and validate post-occupancy use for compliance. This position may serve as State Fire Marshal (SFM) Designated Campus Fire Marshal (DCFM) for the UCDH Hospital and other UCDH medical¬ related facilities. Note, that SFM has the sole authority to approve a candidate as an SFM DCFM.

Additionally, persons in this position are expected to perform plan reviews, construction inspections, and existing building inspections, participate in the Incident Command System, and understand and apply Joint Commission and CMS requirements, NFPA Standards, and California Code of Regulations.

Required Qualifications
