The City of Dixon is accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time position of Transit Driver/Dispatcher and to establish an eligibility list for future use.  

This position drives a Readi-Ride General Public Paratransit Vehicle (GPPV) on a demand responsive curb-to-curb transit system and assist patrons boarding and leaving the bus, especially the elderly, disabled, and school age children. May also assist in collecting information relating to the operation of the system; receive ride requests and organize the vehicle pick-ups and drop-offs; and, will work closely with the drivers and Transit Supervisor to ensure coordinated efforts.

The Transportation Supervisor is an important part of the City's transit team that provide services including the Auburn Loop fixed route and Auburn OnDemand ride share programs.

Under direction of the Public Works Director, Transit Manager or designee, the incumbent coordinates, supervises, assigns, reviews and participates in the work of staff responsible for Auburn Transit's daily operations; schedule drivers to ensure routes are completed in a safe and timely manner; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures including providing necessary training and ensuring re-certification of drivers as required; and operates a bus as necessary to cover shifts.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for Auburn Transit daily operations; perform regular road supervision, vehicle trial checks, and daily vehicle inspection monitoring.
• Establish schedules and methods for providing Auburn Transit services; schedule drivers to ensure routes are completed in a safe and timely manner; coordinate any changes to facilitate coverage for all shifts.
• Coordinates transportation needs for local schools and special events; prepares calendar of trips or special events to be incorporated into the bus timetable; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
• Provide an increasing level of customer service and satisfaction by providing service that is flexible, dependable, and consistent.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
• Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
• Participate in the selection of Bus Drivers; provide or coordinate staff training; issue manuals, bulletins and technical guides to improve services and operational activities; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
• Coordinate training for driver certification and maintenance of certification; document all training in the driver training records; act as a liaison with CHP and DMV regarding certification and training record documentation.
• Provide staff assistance to the Transit Manager; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present reports of operations and activities and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
• Coordinate maintenance for buses and allocate buses to be used on routes.
• Respond to the scene of transit vehicle accidents and passenger incidents; provide on the scene assistance to drivers and passengers.
• Investigate accidents and incidents; make prompt and accurate reports; review investigation with transit drivers and determine accident preventability and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Act as Safety Liaison with various agencies including police and emergency authorities as necessary.
• Provide regular informational and safety meetings.
• Perform a full range of customer relations; answer questions from the public relating to bus routes and schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs; issue bus passes.
• Work with local businesses to promote the use of Auburn Transit and fulfill the optimal service hours of the route.
• Operate a bus as necessary to cover shifts.
• Perform related duties as required.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for Extra Help-Cook within the Yuba County Jail. Under close supervision, prepares and provides institutional meals following federal and state nutritional guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.  Yuba County staffs the Cook classification at the County Jail division in the Sheriff’s department  This position performs a full range of tasks associated with the preparation and distribution of meals to juvenile detainees and adult inmates.  The incumbent ensures that properly prepared nutritional meals are produced in a large volume, institutional setting.  Responsibilities also include overseeing detainees and/or inmates and institution workers assisting with food preparation. 

For successful performance, the incumbent would be required to have knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in high volume meal preparation in an institutional setting; basic food groups and nutritional values; safe work practices related to food preparation, storage and service; basic business arithmetic; and basic inventory and record keeping principles and practices. Skill in overseeing and preparing meals in a large scale, institutional setting; overseeing and training others in basic cooking and work procedures; operating, cleaning and performing minor maintenance to large institutional food preparation and cooking equipment; maintaining accurate records and preparing work related reports; directing others in work procedures; and reading, understanding and following recipes and oral and written directions. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff.   The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated.  The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

The City of Auburn is hiring to fill a part-time, Retired Annuitant Bus Driver I/II position.  Under general supervision, this position operates a bus over designated routes to transport passengers; maintains established schedule; and ensures passenger safety.

The Retired Annuitant position is limited to work no more than 960 hours per fiscal year.  Placement in the class series is dependent upon qualifications.  The salary range for each level is below:

• Bus Driver I:  $45,864 - $58,552
• Bus Driver II:  $48,152 - $61,484

THE POSITION

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the removal of blight from City property.  Positions allocated to this class are expected to perform skilled and complex maintenance including litter, weed, and debris removal duties and to work with third party contractors.

The purpose of the recruitment is to fill a current vacancy at the Woodland Police Department, Homeless Outreach Street Team, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position will have strong communication and customer service skills and possess the ability to mediate or de-escalate conflict. Candidates should possess an awareness of their surroundings and roadway dangers. They should be willing to work in a variety of conditions exposing them to inclement weather, as well as vehicle traffic. The ability to prioritize work and maintain deadlines would be ideal. Candidates should possess the ability to foster good working relationships with local business owners and other agencies and be able to work in a fast-paced environment where task completion is paramount.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work to complete required duties for the City’s Blight Abatement Team such as removal of graffiti, removal of abandoned camps, litter clean-up, power washing, removal and clean-up of bio-hazards and human waste, removal of fallen leaves and minor landscaping clean-up, as well as assist in the execution and implementation of special events that take place within the City limits.
• Work in cooperation with staff from other City departments. 
• Fulfill the tasks assigned to them with attention to detail, speed, and a customer service-oriented attitude.
• Be self-directed in completing tasks and determining the next priority of work.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide general information to the public, other City departments, and vendors pertaining to area of assignment. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment.  

The work environment is located primarily outdoors and consists of completing tasks involving litter, weed, debris and graffiti removal, painting and biohazard abatement. Additional tasks include cleaning of walkways, street gutters, alleyways, and landscape areas. Conditions range from working outside in all types of weather conditions. Some work will involve hazardous and unsanitary conditions. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without regular direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Meet stand-by program requirements and serve in a stand-by status after regular working hours and respond to emergency call-outs.  Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, scheduling of work, and employee evaluations.   Requisition of materials and supplies for assigned facilities and projects.   Instruct subordinates in proper work techniques, use of equipment and safety practices and requirements. Work cooperatively with others.  Drive vehicles and equipment as required.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.  

Experience:

One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Maintenance

Worker I.

Bilingual:  Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.

License and Certificate:

Required upon hire, possession of valid Class C California Driver's License.

Forklift Certification, First Aid and CPR certifications, is required prior to permanent appointment.

Possession of a valid Class B or Class A California Driver's License is a plus.

Future salary growth includes 4% increase effective July 2024, a 1% increase effective January 2025, a 4% increase in July 2025 and a 1% increase effective January 2026.

About the Position: 

Yuba County is currently accepting applications for the position of Building Inspector II/III. Currently we are hiring to fill at a Building Inspector III level within the Building Department and establish an eligibility list for the level II position.

The Building Inspector II position is flexibly staffed and is normally filled by advancement from the entry level Building Inspector I.  Incumbents which meet the minimum qualifications and demonstrate the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher performance level are promoted to the level II position. 

Building Inspector III is a stand alone position which performs complex, difficult and/or lead inspections and provides direction and technical expertise to staff.

 

Qualifications:   

Building Inspector II: Under limited supervision, this is the working level in this class series, fully qualified to independently perform diverse inspections. This is the journey level in the building inspection series

Building Inspector III: This position reports directly to the Supervising Building Official. Acts as a lead inspector providing direction and technical expertise to staff and performs related work as assigned. This is the advanced journey level in the building inspection series

Building Inspector II:

• Perform inspections, investigation, code interpretations, permit application intake, review and permit issuance, including record keeping and case management.  Also learn and apply zoning, land use, fire-safe and water quality related regulations.
• Inspect new and existing properties, and other building and construction elements for conformance to codes, regulations, plans, specifications and standards related for foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing and other structural and functional elements.
• Confer with and provide information to developers, engineers, architects, property owners and others regarding code requirements and alternative and County policies and procedures whenever possible, resolve complaints and problems, maintain close verbal and written contact regarding progress with the complainants.
• Lead inspections for non-residential commercial and industrial projects, new and existing.
• Perform above duties with limited supervision.
• Provide information to senior staff to prepare case violations for hearing; testify in court as required.

Building Inspector III (In addition to the above):

• Provide lead direction, training and work review to professional and technical staff; organize and assign work accordingly, set priorities and follow-up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work; provide input into performance evaluation.
• Perform complex and difficult in nature assignments; respond to highly sensitive, complete or technical complaints; validate the nature of the complaint and recommend solutions.
• Independently perform the full range of the Building Inspector I/II duties.
• Implement new or modified policies and procedures and train/develop other staff as required.
• Make presentations to groups and coordinate public meetings.

 

**Signing Bonus Qualification Criteria:

• First Installment of $2,500, the candidate must apply, qualify for and be hired (e.g. first time appointment) by CDSA.
• Second Installment of $2,500, the recently hired employee must successfully complete six months of County service (achieving a "meets standards" or above on the six-month performance evaluation).
