CIVIC FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellowship program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. This program invests in our local workforce and fosters a passion for careers in the public sector. During the eight (8)-week program, fellows will work with a city department and participate in program-wide activities.
Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week. For more information, visit cityofwoodland.org/1429/Civic-Fellowship-Program.
This fellowship posting is for the Outreach Coordinator in the Public Works (PW) Department.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Outreach Coordinator will develop a program for customer outreach following fieldwork by public works staff. This might include developing a door hanger that warns customers of impending work that might impact them and provides customer feedback about customer satisfaction after the project. The selected fellow will be expected to research existing programs and develop one using the best of what they have learned and their creative approach. The goal is to gain knowledge that will improve PW’s internal operation and to demonstrate to the customers that PW is committed to customer service and desires their input to improve our service.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the designated City employee.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate would be someone interested in community outreach and working with the public. A driver's license is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of high school education
- Local Woodland knowledge preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and perform multiple tasks with accuracy
- Possess a high degree of initiative
- Excellent meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of audiences
- Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
- Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
License: A valid California Driver’s License

Salary Range
$19.00 - $24.00 / hour dependent on experience.
