The City Manager is the administrative head of the government of the City. Under the direction and control of the City Council, the City Manager is responsible for ensuring that the policy directions set forth by the City Council are carried out and the day-to-day operations of the City government run smoothly.

Some of the duties of the City Manager include:

• Plan, coordinate and direct the work of City departments; oversee community and economic development activities; organize public improvement projects and programs; develop and prepare administrative policies, procedures and work standards to ensure that the goals and objectives of the City are met and that mandated services are provided in an effective, efficient and economical manner.
• Oversee and monitor the City budget and provide information regarding the City's financial condition and needs to the City Council.
• Represent the City in meetings with governmental agencies, community groups and various businesses, professional, educational, regulatory and legislative organizations; act as the City liaison.
• Prepare the agenda for all regular, special or adjourned meetings of the City Council.
• Execute contracts authorized or approved by the City Council.
• Personnel and organizational responsibilities include selection, training, professional development and work evaluation of City staff; oversee the implementation of effective employee relations and related programs; oversees the City's risk management program; provide policy guidance and interpretation to staff; recommend reorganization efforts to meet the needs of the City; implement policy and procedural changes as required.

The Technology Services Librarian will have primary responsibility for overseeing all in-house technology in the Downtown Library and Weekes Branch, including: 
 

• Coordinating the Library’s Makerspace, Digital Media Lab, and Public Computer Lab, including providing tech support to public and staff computers.  
• Serving as the liaison to the City IT department 
• Working with library vendors to curate and manage the library’s e-resources, including e-books and databases.

 Librarian II: Marketing and Outreach:
 

The Marketing and Outreach Librarian will have primary responsibility for overseeing the library’s Outreach Division, which includes:  

 

• Coordinating the library’s bookmobile and techmobile services, and community hub.  
• Coordinating library marketing, including social media, newsletters, and the library’s website.  
• Coordinating off-site and on-site programming and collaboration requests.  
• Serving as the liaison to the City’s Publicity/PR Department 
• Supervising staff assigned to outreach services.

Librarian II: Education Services:
 

The Education Services Librarian II will have primary responsibility for coordinating the library’s Education Services Division, which includes:  

 

• Program development and implementation of cradle to senior programs in collaboration with community partners.  
• Early childhood development programming, K-12 after-school support programs, adult literacy, summer programming, and citizenship programming.  
• Serving as a liaison to schools and institutions of higher learning.  
• Overseeing multiple federal and state grants.  
• Supervising staff assigned to the Education Services division.  
• Serving as manager in charge in the absence of senior managers.

 Essential Duties:

What you will do:  

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
 
Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the functions of a major service area of the library.

Makes recommendations on selection and withdrawal of books, periodicals, display materials, and audio or video or e-materials by reading reviews, and other sources, and keeping up with current trends and making recommendations to the Director of Library Services.
 
Performs reference and readers advisory work in person, by telephone or other communication means, by verifying the patrons' needs through the reference interview process, and answering questions or exploring alternative sources of information such as other resources, agencies and libraries.

Updates factual material and coordinates loan services with other libraries. Assesses technology needs, evaluates system needs and makes recommendations for purchasing or improving equipment and programs based on current industry standards.
 
Serves as a liaison to the IT department for testing and supporting computer devices, library software, and infrastructure needs; provides basic technical assistance to library staff and patrons; and plans technology related training and programming for staff and the public.
 
Independently performs complex cataloging and classification review and related activities as assigned.
 
Directs or participates in community programs such as library tours for community groups, special programs for children and adults including technology services and on-site visits to the library.
 
Attends job-related meetings such as weekly staff meetings, Bay Area Library Information Systems meetings and/or other area meetings.
 
Prepares and submits performance evaluations on staff.

Prepares and submits timely and informative reports on projects as needed, including recommendations regarding resources and budgetary needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is conducted both in a fire station and in the field in various settings. The Position

The Management Analyst I/II position is responsible for performing varied technical, professional administrative and analytical duties in support of a broad range of the City Manager's Office's operations.

The City of Marysville is excited to announce that we are looking for Intern Fire Fighters.  Currently, we have 3 positions looking to be filled.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.
