LIBRARIAN I or II, ADULT SERVICES (SPANISH BILINGUAL PREFERRED) – ROSELAND

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME 

We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented Adult Services Librarian with a strong public service commitment for our Roseland Regional Library. Spanish bilingual skills are preferred. The ideal candidate will be comfortable conversing in both English and Spanish in order to provide library service, outreach and programming for patrons from diverse backgrounds.

Under general supervision, this position provides excellent customer service while performing a variety of professional adult library services, including reference, reader’s advisory, collection development, event planning, outreach, digital literacy training for the public, and performs related work as assigned.
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

• Provides general reference and reader’s advisory services
• Explains library policies and procedures to patrons and staff
• Assists, advises and instructs patrons on the use of library materials and equipment, including automated catalogs, the Internet, various software, eBooks and audio book reading and listening devices and digital literacy in general
• Conducts reference searches using a variety of database, online, and other search techniques
• Helps to maintain and select the addition of books, reference materials, CD’s, DVD’s, electronic media, and other library materials
• Assists at the Circulation Desk when needed.
• Assists in and/or directs the preparation of exhibits and the organization and presentation of a variety of programs and events, as well as forming community partnerships for co-events
• Leads book discussion groups
• Promotes the Library out in the community, at schools, and events, and provides written outreach through community publications as well as press releases and other promotions; may represent the Library in meetings with the community or special interest groups
• Helps to maintain social media connectivity to the library public.
• Works collaboratively with staff, the community and special interest groups.
• The Librarian II performs all of these tasks but at a more difficult, higher level. May serve as Person-in-Charge when Branch Manager is absent.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Administers first aid in emergency situations.

• Issues traffic citations.

• Serves warrants, subpoenas and civil documents.

• Apprehends and arrests suspects and violent persons; transports prisoners; seizes property and/or criminal evidence; interrogates suspects, witnesses and complainants; gathers and preserves evidence.

• Assists with County search and rescue operations.

• Prepares various reports on investigations, including arrest and unusual incidents observed.

• Assists with criminal investigations as required.

• Prepares case files; testifies and presents evidence in court.

• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders.

• May serve as special duty officer as assigned, including responsibilities such as serving on the narcotics task force, serving as Deputy Coroner, providing court security, serving as school resource officer, serving as K-9 handler, serving on gang task force, etc.

• Participates in other special projects and programs as assigned.

• Performs duties related to crime prevention and community relations.

• Performs general administrative work, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing correspondence and reports, entering computer data, maintaining files, answering the phone, etc..

We are seeking a customer service driven IT professional for our full-time Information Technology Technician II position, which will provide a variety of technical and information systems support and training throughout the library system.

Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager, this position is responsible for troubleshooting computer-related problems; installing, customizing, implementing and maintaining software, hardware and network configurations, and various systems; developing and delivering technical training related to the public services function; providing support for desktop computer applications, Internet/Intranet, self-service portals, web based applications, and email systems; participating in planning, designing, implementing, testing, and supporting new or modified automation systems; researching and reviewing new software and hardware; performing other duties as assigned.
 
 
TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to: 

• Performs complex technical and operational IT support work and systems administration and/or leads the work of others engaged in routine technical and operational IT support.
• Coordinates projects, personnel, and systems to facilitate access to the Library’s inter-networked computer systems.

The City of Sausalito is seeking a dynamic and innovative team player for the position of Librarian II at the Sausalito Public Library. Under general direction from the City Librarian, the Librarian II will support all programs and/or functional areas in the City Library, including identifying current and projecting future community needs and providing leadership to initiatives to improve library services.

The responsibilities assigned to the Librarian II will be primarily oriented towards services to children and young adults, including providing direct support to children attending the schools of the Sausalito Marin City School District and their teachers.

The incumbent will also perform a variety of professional librarian duties, such as reference services, collection development and management, and cataloging. The Librarian II manages the effective use of library resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service while providing highly complex and responsible support to the City Librarian in their areas of expertise, as well as performing related work as required.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff-Lateral. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting to fill two vacancies and to establish an employment list for the classification of Social Worker II. Under general supervision, incumbents perform moderately complex social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; conducting field visits; identifying, assessing and arranging alternative solutions to clients’ needs and obstacles; carry a moderately complex caseload; prepare and monitor plans; prepare court reports, depending on area of assignment; and perform related work as assigned. The work may be related to a specific program area or to more general social service benefit provision. Social Worker II is the journey-level in the social work series. This position reports directly to a Social Worker Supervisor II or other higher-level supervisor or manager.

Example of Duties:

• Interview and counsel a diverse population of clients; isolate barriers to self-sufficiency; and evaluate need for services and/or make appropriate referrals to training, public assistance and social services programs.
• Perform case management of moderately complex cases.
• Conduct field/home visits, assessments, and reassessments as required to monitor and investigate progress and compliance

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy County Counsel II/III in the Office of County Counsel. Under the direction of the County Counsel and Chief Deputy County Counsel, attorneys in this series perform professional legal work by preparing and trying civil cases and providing legal counsel and assistance to the County, it’s officers, associated boards and commissions, as well as outside agencies; assist departments in interpreting regulations on a wide range of topics; represent officers and employees in litigation; and perform duties as assigned.  The Deputy County Counsel I/II/III classification is flexibly staffed and depending on background and experience, may be filled directly at the Deputy County Counsel II or III level. Involvement in formal litigation and discretionary authority increases as the incumbent progresses through the various levels.

Examples of Duties Level I:

• Researches, interprets and applies laws, court decision, statutes, ordinances and other legal authorities for use in the preparation of legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, notes, and memoranda; prepares legal reports, opinions, briefs and appeals of average difficulty under general supervision.  
• Represents, confers with and advises County officials, employees and district representatives on legal questions pertaining to their respective powers, duties, functions and obligations; may attend meetings of boards and commissions in order to provide legal advice and counsel.  
• Represents, confers with, and advises clients of the Office of the County Counsel with respect to all aspects of civil law, including litigation in the area of probate, police powers, zoning, planning, social services, health care, child welfare, disciplinary appeals and grievances, real and personal property, assessment and taxation, and other civil areas of public law.  
• Researches and prepares formal written ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, leases, conveyances and other legal documents.

Examples of Duties Level II (in addition to the above):

• Prepares pleadings and other papers in connection with trials, hearings and other legal proceedings; performs research, investigation and detailed legal preparation for the trial or defense of the County in cases involving condemnation, damage or other civil suits.  
• Makes recommendations to the County Counsel concerning the advisability to prosecute, compromise or dismiss civil litigation.
• Drafts proposed legislation, analyzes pending legislation and recommends County position on legislation.

• Prepares difficult legal reports, opinions, briefs and appeals using independent judgment and discretion.
