The Department is currently recruiting to fill multiple Building Inspector Combination (BIC) positions in the Building Inspection Division. A Building Inspector Combination reviews plans, issues permits, and performs field inspections for a variety of buildings and structures being constructed, altered or repaired to ensure compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes and related Federal, State and local regulations. Specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the Department.

The City of Salinas is accepting applications for Building Permit Specialist. The ideal candidates will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, community service and team-oriented division. Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desired.
SUPERVISING PLANS EXAMINER
$7,245 - $8,805 mo. + excellent benefits
+ 2% salary increase effective July 1, 2018
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of plan and engineering examination duties to ensure compliance with building codes and other local, State and Federal requirements; to provide direct and technical supervision to the plan check staff; and to provide information and assistance to the public.

With general direction, a Senior Building Inspector performs complex inspections at various stages of construction, alterations, and repair of industrial, commercial, residential and public building sites making sure construction is safe; assigns work to, monitors performance of, and assists with the most complex inspections; ensures conformance with approved plans, specifications, standards, permits, licensing, and safety standards; performs basic plan checking of projects, provides a variety of information to property owners and contractors; provides guidance to the Permit Technicians.
