About the Fremont Police Department
Fremont Police Department is the law enforcement agency for the City of Fremont, California. As of 2024, the department consists of over 300 staff, of which more than 200 are sworn personnel, and more than 100 are professional staff.  Fremont Police Department was first established under the direction of Chief Richard E. Condon on July 1, 1958. At that time, it was staffed by one Lieutenant, three Sergeants, two investigators, one juvenile officer, 17 patrol officers, a secretary, and a clerk. By the end of 1958, there were a total of 25 officers serving a population of 29,000 people in the City of Fremont. In 1966, Fremont PD grew to 82 officers, serving a population of 88,000. The department continues to grow as demand for services increased. Today, Fremont Police Department is one of the most reputable police agencies in the State, serving the 4th largest city in the Bay Area.

• Coordinating library marketing, including social media, newsletters, and the library’s website.  
• Coordinating off-site and on-site programming and collaboration requests.

Librarian II: Education Services:
 

The Education Services Librarian II will have primary responsibility for coordinating the library’s Education Services Division, which includes:  

 

• Program development and implementation of cradle to senior programs in collaboration with community partners.  
• Early childhood development programming, K-12 after-school support programs, adult literacy, summer programming, and citizenship programming.  
• Serving as a liaison to schools and institutions of higher learning.  
• Overseeing multiple federal and state grants.  
• Supervising staff assigned to the Education Services division.  
• Serving as manager in charge in the absence of senior managers.

Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the functions of a major service area of the library.

Makes recommendations on selection and withdrawal of books, periodicals, display materials, and audio or video or e-materials by reading reviews, and other sources, and keeping up with current trends and making recommendations to the Director of Library Services.
 
Performs reference and readers advisory work in person, by telephone or other communication means, by verifying the patrons' needs through the reference interview process, and answering questions or exploring alternative sources of information such as other resources, agencies and libraries.

Updates factual material and coordinates loan services with other libraries. Assesses technology needs, evaluates system needs and makes recommendations for purchasing or improving equipment and programs based on current industry standards.
 
Serves as a liaison to the IT department for testing and supporting computer devices, library software, and infrastructure needs; provides basic technical assistance to library staff and patrons; and plans technology related training and programming for staff and the public.
 
Independently performs complex cataloging and classification review and related activities as assigned.
 
Directs or participates in community programs such as library tours for community groups, special programs for children and adults including technology services and on-site visits to the library.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Gilroy Police Department is actively seeking an undergraduate-level or graduate- level Police Administration College Intern to assist police officers and other professional staff in various divisions. The intern will perform general clerical duties related to crime analysis, youth task form and gang prevention, public safety communication, community outreach, handle confidential information, and assist with other police related projects and assignments. The Police Administration Intern will also engage and interact with the community at various local community events.

The Police Intern will work under the direction of a Police Sergeant and/or Police Captain to help streamline the needs of the multiple units in the Police Department.

Graphically details methods of construction and code requirements for the general public, contractors, architects and engineers.
 
Trains and provides lead assistance to building inspectors in the performance of their duties specifically when complex structural inspections are being conducted and technical advice is required.
 
Maintains appropriate records of inspections and recommendations on code requirements provided to the general public, contractors, architects and engineers.
 
Provides survey of Building Code requirements on structures where change in occupancy loads are planned; provides follow-up reports.
 
Meets with Building Official on a variety of matters related to structural inspection work.

VEHICLE ABATEMENT OFFICER - TEMPORARY (Approximately 20 hours per week)

The City is now accepting applications for the position of Vehicle Abatement Officer (Temporary) in the Police Department. Under supervision, this position will respond to complaints from the public related to abandoned vehicles; enforce municipal and vehicle codes, and parking regulations; maintain records; and perform other duties as assigned. The City of Newark is looking to hire a Building Inspector in the Public Works Department. Education:

• Equivalent to a High School diploma
• Building Inspector II - An Associate’s degree or certificate in building inspection is desirable.

Experience:

• Building Inspector I - Four (4) years of journey level experience in one of the major construction trades or two (2) years of recent experience in building inspection or code enforcement.
• Building Inspector II - Three (3) years of recent experience equivalent to the Building Inspector I level.

License or Certificates:

• Possession of a valid California Class C driver license is required.
• Building Inspector I - International Code Council (ICC) Certification or equivalent certification(s) as a Residential Building Inspector or Commercial Building Inspector at time of hire is desirable and will be required within probationary period and throughout employment.
• Building Inspector II - Possession of International Code Council (ICC) Certification or equivalent certification(s) as a Combination Residential Building Inspector or Combination Commercial Building Inspector. License and certification must be maintained throughout employment.

Livermore Area Recreation and Park District is currently accepting applications for Program Leader.  Under immediate supervision, performs routine support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; and performs related work as required.

SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision, performs routine support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; and performs related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives immediate supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from lead staff. Exercises no supervision over staff.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This entry-level classification in the Program Leader series is responsible for providing child development services in Youth Services programs. Incumbents at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Senior Program Leader level, and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

1. Provides support duties for child development services in Youth Services programs; assists children in activities; prepares and serves snacks based on established guidelines; performs clean-up and food storage duties.

2. Assists in preparing instructional, craft, and other materials; participates in, and encourages, play activities with the children; may assist in providing tutorial and/or remedial activities in small groups.

3. Uses positive reinforcement strategies to maintain order and discipline within the classroom; handles disruptions as needed.

4. Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use; prepares program areas for scheduled activities and events.

5. Assists in the implementation and monitoring of District procedures with respect to participant safety.

6. May participate in staff meetings, family conferences, and other special meetings; observes and monitors family conditions and notifies supervisor of concerns as appropriate.

7. Assists with maintaining required and appropriate documentation, including observation notes, logs, and other records.

8. May participate in public relations, outreach, and community education activities.

9. Attends staff training, workshops, and courses as directed by supervisor.

10. Assists with District special events as needed.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

•  High School Diploma or GED, or currently enrolled in child development Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
•  Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is desirable.

Knowledge of:

• Child development services, operations, and activities.
•  Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and applications related to the work.
•  Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service

Ability to:

•  Learn policies, rules, regulations, operations, services, and activities related to assigned activities.
•  Assist in maintaining the safety of program activities and participants. 
• Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
•  Perform work as directed in an efficient, effective, safe, and timely manner.
•  Make basic mathematic calculations with speed and accuracy.
•  Demonstrate strong customer service skills, and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships.
• Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.

Licenses and Certifications:

Completion of American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED training within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess: mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The classification supports indoor and outdoor programs requiring frequent walking, running, conducting exercises, and related physical activities. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, or tools and equipment used in assigned program area. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and holidays.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
• Medical exam, legally mandated immunizations, tuberculosis, and drug testing clearance
