Librarian II: Technology Services: 

 

The Technology Services Librarian will have primary responsibility for overseeing all in-house technology in the Downtown Library and Weekes Branch, including: 
 

• Coordinating the Library’s Makerspace, Digital Media Lab, and Public Computer Lab, including providing tech support to public and staff computers.  
• Serving as the liaison to the City IT department 
• Working with library vendors to curate and manage the library’s e-resources, including e-books and databases.  
• Supervising staff assigned to the Tech Lab, Makerspace, Digital Media Lab, and Public Computer Lab. 
• Serving as manager in charge in the absence of senior managers.  

 

 Librarian II: Marketing and Outreach:
 

The Marketing and Outreach Librarian will have primary responsibility for overseeing the library’s Outreach Division, which includes:  

 

• Coordinating the library’s bookmobile and techmobile services, and community hub.  
• Coordinating library marketing, including social media, newsletters, and the library’s website.  
• Coordinating off-site and on-site programming and collaboration requests.  
• Serving as the liaison to the City’s Publicity/PR Department 
• Supervising staff assigned to outreach services.  
• Serving as manager in charge in the absence of senior managers.  

Librarian II: Education Services:
 

The Education Services Librarian II will have primary responsibility for coordinating the library’s Education Services Division, which includes:  

 

• Program development and implementation of cradle to senior programs in collaboration with community partners.  
• Early childhood development programming, K-12 after-school support programs, adult literacy, summer programming, and citizenship programming.  
• Serving as a liaison to schools and institutions of higher learning.  
• Overseeing multiple federal and state grants.  
• Supervising staff assigned to the Education Services division.  
• Serving as manager in charge in the absence of senior managers.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
 
Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the functions of a major service area of the library.

Makes recommendations on selection and withdrawal of books, periodicals, display materials, and audio or video or e-materials by reading reviews, and other sources, and keeping up with current trends and making recommendations to the Director of Library Services.
 
Performs reference and readers advisory work in person, by telephone or other communication means, by verifying the patrons' needs through the reference interview process, and answering questions or exploring alternative sources of information such as other resources, agencies and libraries.

Updates factual material and coordinates loan services with other libraries. Assesses technology needs, evaluates system needs and makes recommendations for purchasing or improving equipment and programs based on current industry standards.
 
Serves as a liaison to the IT department for testing and supporting computer devices, library software, and infrastructure needs; provides basic technical assistance to library staff and patrons; and plans technology related training and programming for staff and the public.
 
Independently performs complex cataloging and classification review and related activities as assigned.
 
Directs or participates in community programs such as library tours for community groups, special programs for children and adults including technology services and on-site visits to the library.
 
Attends job-related meetings such as weekly staff meetings, Bay Area Library Information Systems meetings and/or other area meetings.
 
Prepares and submits performance evaluations on staff.

Prepares and submits timely and informative reports on projects as needed, including recommendations regarding resources and budgetary needs.

THE POSITION

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Conduct same day biopsychosocial assessments with both adults and/or children and carry no caseload;

• Will formulate a differential diagnosis concerning the nature of the mental health challenge;

• Create treatment plans and complete all necessary Electronic Health Record documentation;

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Children’s Full Service Partnership/Children and Transitional Age Youth (FSP/ C TAY). The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Mobile Mental Health Clinician. Under general direction, the Mobile Mental Health Clinician provides field and office based professional behavioral health counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, and case management services as part of the City’s Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program improving public safety responses to people experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and homelessness.

THE PROGRAM

The Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program is a cross departmental program between the Hayward City Manager’s Office, Police, and Fire Departments and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services developed to improve access to medical, mental health, and other support services.  The HEART program aims to achieve two main goals: 1) to reduce the need for police officers to intervene in calls for service involving people experiencing chronic mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness and 2) to reduce reliance on emergency services for individuals needing long-term case management and follow-up services.  HEART consists of three distinct response teams: the Mobile Integrated Health Unit (MIHU) made up of Hayward Fire Department Community Paramedics; the Hayward Mobile Evaluation Team (HMET) which pairs a specially trained Hayward Police Officer with an Alameda County behavioral health clinician; and the Case Management and Mental Health Linkages Team (LINK) consisting of Mobile Mental Health Clinicians and a Lead Program Assistant (Case Manager).

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

 As a member of the LINK team, the ideal candidate has experience providing short term crisis intervention, safety assessments, and other mental health services to adults, youth and children experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and/or homelessness.  They have the ability to work primarily in the field and have the situational awareness to respond alongside emergency response teams. They are knowledgeable about local community resources and skilled at forming relationships quickly.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The department offers a working environment which is friendly, supportive, collegial, and where staff of many disciplines come together to problem solve, compassionately assist those in need, and share successes.

The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team strives to provide and AFS staff work together to provide a continuum of supportive services that range from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine (phone and email) that is answered in 4 language (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point. As an older adult or their caregiver’s situation changes, they seamlessly have access to a continuum of programs that include counseling and emotional support; care coordination and resource assistance; specialized family caregiver support and education. Many of these supportive services are provided in the resident’s home. We also provide regular expert clinical consultation, supervision, opportunities for self-reflection, and team building, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusivity, humility, and respect.

The Position

Under the supervision of the Age Well Center Managers, the Chef/Food Services Manager position manages meal programs for the City of Fremont’s Age Well Centers. Chef responsibilities across both Age Well Center locations include the performance of menu planning, purchasing of foodstuffs, preparing quantity meals, supervising and assisting kitchen employees and volunteers and maintaining clean and orderly kitchens.

The incumbent will be responsible for properly cooked, economical, and wholesome, well balanced meals in City operated Age Well Centers. This position is not limited to being responsible for the assignment of work, supervision and evaluation of paid and volunteer food service workers. The review and approval of proposed menus, food purchases, control and monitoring of expenditure rates; and institution of disciplinary actions are functions reserved for the Program Coordinator or Age Well Center Managers.

• Plan menus with consideration for the dietary needs of older adults, wholesomeness, quantity of food to be prepared and budgetary constraints.

• May cut/carve and cook meats; bake breads, cakes and pastries; peel and prepare vegetables; and make salads.

• Develop and support additional meal programs, including, but not limited to fundraisers, catering events and cooking demonstrations and special events.
• Keep records and prepare reports as required. Inclusive of any certification requirements and/or medical clearances required of subordinate employees and volunteers.
• Oversee community garden program, including crop rotation, seasonal planting, and maintenance assignment.
• Coordinate with office staff, marketing and sales strategies to increase visibility and participation for meal programs.
• Ensure kitchen compliance with health regulations and participate in health inspections.

LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the Summer Youth Volunteer Program.  Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree.  Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, and community services will be given preference.  Interested candidates should complete an application online. The intern will be responsible for key deliverables while learning about special districts and the Livermore community.

Community Outreach: Summer Youth Volunteers Project Plan 

The Community Outreach team is seeking a summer intern for a 10–12-week assignment.  The goal of the internship is to gain valuable experience managing high school aged volunteers that will support a variety of summer camps and programs throughout the district.  

Key duties 

• Be primary point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers. 

• Assist with volunteer orientation and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer. 

• Oversee volunteer schedule. 

• Track volunteer hours logging. 

• Create program completion documents. 

• Assist with planning end of summer recognition event. 

Key deliverables will be: 

• Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create end of summer recap report. 

• Complete summer training and check-in reports. 

• Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers. 

• Report any concerns from staff and volunteers or development opportunities for volunteers through regular check-ins. 

What learning will occur for the intern? 

• Experience managing volunteers. 

• Learn how summer programs work/run in a special district.  

• Gain familiarity with volunteer management software. 

• Graphic design creating infographics and end-of-summer reports. 

• Communication opportunities both with program staff and volunteers. 

Timing 

June-August 9th.  Interns may start and end later but need to be present for the core Sessions slated for the entire month of June, July and through August 9th.  

Work hours will be Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment.  The pay rate will be $20 per hour.  All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.
