CIVIC FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland has established a paid summer fellowship program for individuals early in their career seeking public service experience. This program invests in our local workforce and fosters a passion for careers in the public sector. During the eight (8)-week program, fellows will work with a city department and participate in program-wide activities.
Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week. For more information, visit cityofwoodland.org/1429/Civic-Fellowship-Program.
This fellowship posting is for the Community Outreach Specialist in the Fire Department.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Community Outreach Specialist will create an inventory of AED's located within schools, businesses, warehouses, and other governmental buildings in our community. This will require on-site visits, the development of online surveys, and the data upload into Pulse Point. In addition, the specialist should become well informed on hands-on CPR, developing training plans, videos, and educational material to be provided to the public, to host one hands-on training event or presentation to a community group in Woodland.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the designated City employee.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate would be someone interested in community outreach and working with the public. A driver's license is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of high school education
- Local Woodland knowledge preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and perform multiple tasks with accuracy
- Possess a high degree of initiative
- Excellent meeting facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively present information to a wide variety of audiences
- Knowledge of the Spanish language would be useful
- Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
License: A valid California Driver’s License

Salary Range
$19.00 - $24.00 / hour dependent on experience.
