ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for enthusiastic and energetic Office Assistant I to support our newly established Utilities Department. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of something groundbreaking for our agency and for the Gilroy community. As an Office Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and be the backbone for all administrative efforts and providing stellar support for the team. The Office Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Utilities Director and will also assist the Management Analyst with data quality and reporting. The Office Assistant must be highly organized, detailed oriented, and efficient and effective with the use of their time. This position performs a variety of professional administrative and confidential support functions for the Assistant General Manager and his/her staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates and arranges meetings, prepares agendas, reserves and prepares facilities, and records and transcribes minutes of meetings.

Organizes and maintains file system and files correspondence and other records.

Conducts research and compiles and types statistical reports.

Administers committee meetings in accordance with Ralph M. Brown Act requirements.

Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials.

Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.

Within budget, orders and maintains supplies and arranges for equipment maintenance.

Provides support or backup to the Receptionist, other Administrative Assistants, and Executive Assistant as needed. Participates in Administrative Assistants meetings. 

Assists in coordinating the monthly Agenda Packet materials for the Commission.

Maintains the business unit SharePoint workspace and associated systems, including business web page.

Develops, maintains, and administers a regulatory tracking system to support agency regulatory requirements.

Develops, prepares, and administers Agency contracts and agreements, including the development of contract templates, tracking of contract records in the Agency records-keeping system, and processing various contractual requirements.

Assist with the development and preparation of Agency staff reports and resolutions, including supporting documents.

Provide support for Agency contract administration functions, including tracking, storage, review, and validation of agency contracts and agreements.

May prepare or review expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions.

May perform other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of three years related administrative experience supporting a high-level manager and his/her staff; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 
Knowledge:

The Electrical Engineer IV-V position performs a variety of exciting engineering duties associated with the NCPA generation fleet and the NCPA-affiliated members utilities. The Engineering Level IV-V will serve as a subject matter expert on power plant electrical systems and municipal electrical systems. The scope of  expertise includes both the technical and regulatory components of electrical generating facilities, generator protection, transmission systems, and substations systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires the incumbent to report to work and meetings on time, ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent, and performs special assignments as assigned. Employees at this level will manage numerous studies and assessments. Additionally, this position will manage or assist capital and maintenance improvement projects from concept to completion. This position also provides onsite electrical subject matter expertise to power plant operations, generator operator NERC subject matter expertise, and electrical training to staff. 

Level IV:  
This is the journey-level class within the engineer series. Working with minimal direction, employees at this level assist or lead capital projects, including project management, giving project assignments, reviewing work, providing guidance, and giving instruction to project personnel, including professional engineering staff, other staff, and contractors.  

Level V: 
This is the senior-level class within the engineering series. Working with minimal direction and often taking department goals and translating them into work assignments for individuals and other departments. Employees at this level are given the most complex multi-year projects.

Responsibilities:
Coordinate NERC regulatory requirements for the Generation Services department. Leads the Generations Service NERC Compliance Program. Ensures that all Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAWs) are completed in a timely manner and proper records are maintained. 

Conduct engineering, perform economic and technical feasibility studies on both capital improvements and project enhancements for the Geothermal, Hydroelectric, and the Combustion Turbine Plants facilities, microgrids, PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoffs), distributed energy resources, and other distribution resources found in city utilizes. 

Leads and coordinates small to large work groups to support various initiatives. Develops and sets schedules, develops meeting agendas, and manages meetings to meet timelines. 

Participates in the review of technical and economic analysis of new projects, specifications, and agreements. Prepares periodic reports on progress and issues relating to the above.  

Provide verbal and written reports to committees and working groups on industry best practices, current technologies, and regulatory impacts. 

Performs “root cause” analysis on equipment malfunction and failures. Provides on-site plant technical support for electric systems. Provides electric system support for city distribution system. 

Provide support for preparing technical specifications by using industry-standard codes and practices and NCPA’s policies and procedures. 

Provides input to NCPA’s budget and business plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level IV:
Education and/or Experience      
This level requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering an accredited four-year college or university; and a minimum of 7 years of related experience and/or a combination of experience and additional training. A California Professional Engineering License is highly desirable and in some cases a requirement. 

Level V:
Education and/or Experience      
This level requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; and a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience and/or a combination of experience and additional training. A California Professional Engineering License is highly desirable and in some cases a requirement.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 
Knowledge:
The position requires a thorough understanding of regulatory guidelines and expectations for the electrical power industry with emphasis on California; Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering planning, design, and construction as applied to public works projects, utility systems, and/or private development projects; Principles and practices of leadership, motivation, team building, and conflict resolution; Project Management principles and practices; and knowledge of safety work practices and principles associated in working around generating facilities.  

Abilities:

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid California Driver's License and insurance as frequent travel by car to NCPA facilities or NCPA member cities is required. 

An active California professional registration as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer is highly desirable for both levels.

This position may serve as a nonsupervisory specialist or supervisor. If acting as a supervisor, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water lines, sewers, storm drains, and pump stations.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill multiple vacancies in the Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Division, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.  Initial position and salary of the selected candidate will be based on previous work experience and valid licenses/certificates. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is looking to fill multiple Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II positions in the Public Works Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Division.  The Ideal Candidate for the current vacancy is someone who has a good understanding of all aspects of underground sewer/storm drain maintenance and repairs, and is familiar with the operation of light and heavy equipment.  This position requires a “team player” with good interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.  Candidate must be able to follow direction and display good judgment, as well as be organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor.  Current and valid distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial driver’s license are highly desirable.

Utilities Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker I may often perform many of the duties required of Utilities Maintenance Workers II but is not expected to have the depth of experience, skill level and certifications of the Utilities Maintenance Worker II. As a result, the Utilities Maintenance Worker I will have fewer opportunities to exercise independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II:

This is the Journey level in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Utilities Maintenance Worker I in that incumbent perform more complex maintenance duties including working independently, exercising judgment, and operating the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level, or by candidates with prior work experience elsewhere.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, steel rollers, High Velocity Vacuum Cleaner, mole trencher, and rubber-tired tractor with all attachments in order to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Operate fork lift as assigned and trained.  Perform general maintenance and repair on water distribution and/or storm and wastewater collection facilities including installation, testing, and backfill of service laterals.  Within the sewer and stormwater collections division, employees will be expected to use the Closed-Circuit Television Truck, sewer cable machine, flush sewer laterals and mains, assist in sewer tap installations, clean storm drain lines and catch basins. Within the water distribution division, employees will be expected to assist in water tap installations, install, remove, and repair water meters, hydrants, service valves, and mainline valves; take water meter and gauge readings; accurately maintain records and reports.  All Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II will operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates, utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work and comply with the policies and procedures in the department Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that employee must be present to work on facilities and equipment impacting the public’s health and safety.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Respond to inquiries from the general public. Prepare as built sketches, when required to convey information to engineering for graphic documentation. Check water meters for proper operation; troubleshoot registers and repair. Initiate and discontinue water service to customer accounts as directed. Operate telemetering and flow monitoring equipment. Work cooperatively with others. Perform related duties as assigned. Both Assignments will require employees to be “On Call” as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Utilities Maintenance Worker I

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Courses in, or graduation from, the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable

Experience:  One (1) year of experience in construction or related field.

License and Certificate:  Requires possession of a California State Drinking Water Operator Certification Program (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) and a Grade I Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association prior to permanent appointment. 

A Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program certificate issued by the National Association of Sewer System Companies (NASSCO) is desirable.

Requires possession of a valid California Driver's License.  A Class B Driver’s permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three (3) months of hire.  Employee must obtain a valid Class B Driver's License, a Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association, First Aid and CPR certifications, Competent Person certification, and Confined Space certification prior to permanent appointment.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Courses in or graduation from the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable

Experience:  One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Utilities Maintenance Worker I.

License and Certificate:  Requires possession of a California State (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) and a Grade II Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association upon hire.

Requires all of the certifications necessary for a Utilities Maintenance Worker I and possession of a valid Class B California Driver's License with Tank and Air Brake Endorsement upon hire.

The Position

Superior Court of California, San Mateo County is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill one vacancy for a Court Commissioner. The appointment to this position shall be by the judges of the superior court and shall be under the general direction of the presiding judge.

Pursuant to California Rules of Court, candidates must have been admitted to practice law in California for at least 10 years or, on a finding of good cause by the presiding judge, for at least 5 years.

The commissioner’s duties include the subordinate judicial duties set forth in Code of Civil Procedure Section 259 which include but are not limited to conducting judicial hearings in a broad range of civil proceedings which may include family law, making findings of fact in traffic, small claims, and criminal proceedings and performing other subordinate judicial activities as may be conferred by law or by order of the court. • Experience with trial and hearing procedures and with the rules of evidence.

The City of Marysville is hiring for a total of 1 Engineer position, and create an Employment List.

Performs advanced firefighting and rescue activities; operates and maintains the entire range of Fire Department vehicles, apparatus, equipment, and facilities; drives large fire apparatus in various traffic conditions; provides emergency medical and rescue services to the community; and performs related duties and responsibilities as required. The Fire Engineer receives direct supervision from the Fire Captain. This classification may be assigned temporary command of a fire station and may exercise functional supervision over staff during the assigned shift.

Performs tasks requiring: strength and stamina, such as lifting and moving equipment and objects weighing up to 100 pounds; pushing or pulling objects of up to 100 pounds; sitting, standing, walking on uneven or slippery surfaces, kneeling, bending, twisting, turning, stooping, squatting, grasping and crawling; ascending and descending stairs and ladders; working both inside and outside with exposure to extreme weather conditions, odors, dust and pollen; exposure to chemicals, skin irritants, fumes and solvents; frequent hand and arm motion; hand and finger dexterity sufficient to use small tools; turning and bending the neck; the ability to see well enough to read gauges, documents and street maps; accurate depth perception; the ability to communicate verbally, including projecting a voice that can be heard in a noisy environment; the ability to hear and distinguish various sounds, such as alarms, voices of co- workers, and warning horns or sirens in both quiet and noisy environments; the ability to stand, walk, bend , and reach at, above or below shoulder height for extended periods of time; sustained concentration and prolonged commitment to job tasks; interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team; high level cognitive, interpretive and judgement skills; ability to demonstrate flexibility in the work environment, performing a variety of frequently changing tasks; ability to plan, negotiate, direct, control and monitor other’s activities and the ability to work alone effectively under stress in situations dangerous to self or others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is conducted both in a fire station and in the field in various settings. Some of these include exposure to smoke, odors, heat, steam, fumes, and dust, as well as periodic exposure to dangerous or life-threatening situations. Work involves irregular hours during days and evenings, on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
